Guest guest
This reminds me of last year. The guy next door was moving and his girfriend was helping him. She was exhausted and I said I would make her a sandwich. She said " that would be great, I'm vegetarian so if you have any turkey or chicken bologna that would work fine " . Hahaha. She ended up with a tofu non- egg salad sandwich and thought it was egg salad, I never bothered to explain the ingredients. She ate it in seconds. Guest guest
That didn't happen to be the Vegetarian expo here in Johnstown, PA did it? I live right down the mountain from the college where it's held. It seems that here in the mountains when you say you don't eat meat, that doesn't include birds because that's fowl. I have one sweet time explaining that one! LOL Jillian In a message dated 6/23/2008 9:32:10 A.M. Guest guest
Turkey? As in the bird, turkey? That's an animal! The way I see it, this is not a vegetarian food. Unless you picked it from a tree, or it was planted in your garden, lol... Guest guest
Yeah, I've heard something like that, too. My DSIL (son-in -law)'s sister is kind of a funny kid. When our DD and DSIL got married, I saw " Kelly " at the rehearsal dinner and heard some of her conversation, then again, at a Thanksgiving meal with our family and son-in-law's family. " Kelly " was telling folks how she is a " vegetarian " ...but, " ...Yes, I do eat chicken...just not meat.... " (I guess she thinks " chicken " is something that grows out of the ground???) People are kind of funny sometimes! --Laura B., in Illinois (not a true " vegetarian " either, but I know the difference!) Guest guest
That's a good one. Here's another one that I'm sure a lot of you have gotten too. I'm new to FL and mostly know folks older than I am. These are friends of my Mom and Dad's so I get invited to dinners all the time. The grapevine has spread all over the town that I am a vegetarian so they all cook me fish and am surprised when I don't eat it. At least they tried! , " Ady Sinclair " <ady_sin wrote: > > My husband is a good friend of a vegan who attends an annual > conference with him each year. Guest guest
Why does that not surprise me in today's world? It doesn't. Guest guest
My ex-boyfriend raised chickens in his yard (he lived way out in the country) and tried convincing me that " chickens are dumb enough to be vegetables. " When I tell people I'm allergic to eggs and probably can't have that brownie or slice of cheesecake, I've had people tell me, " I'd kill myself! " I reply that miraculously, I've learned that life can be worth living despite this obstacle. Besides, I don't really like cheesecake. And I still love when people ask me, " What do you *eat*? " I eat lots of yummy things, and I wear a size 16, which I would think proves that! A related question: " Why aren't you skinny? " Um, because there are lots of yummy things in the world to eat that never had a face and I work a sedentary job? Blessed be, Jayelle " We loved each other and got married. We are not marrying the state. The law should allow a person to marry anyone he wants. Guest guest
This is why it is so important to research things on your own. It would clear up a lot of misinformation. If most of these people are getting this information from someone else, then either the person telling it to them is in error, or they mistook and misconstrued the information given to them. It does happen, but I would think at some point a person would really educate themselves about any life changing or altering diets or a way of living. Maybe that is just me, but I couldn't do it without being better informed and researching. I mean, a person would at least know how to approach it from a healthful standpoint. -Gypsy <http://profiles./jillianbmarsh> jillianbmarsh Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:08 am (PDT) That didn't happen to be the Vegetarian expo here in Johnstown, PA did it?
