Guest guest
I just had to throw in one of my many stories about living in the South (not that all places are like this, but my city is) and being one of the few vegetarians. A local magazine reviews restaurants from different perspectives, one being " vegetarian " with the slogan " I won't eat anything that moves unless it's in a strong breeze. " The last edition of the magazine recommended the Crawfish Etouffee with shrimp sauce for the vegetarian! I've also had people at restaurants tell me that I can eat chicken after I explain that I'm vegetarian and don't eat meat. What part of the chicken is not meat? Guest guest
Another time, at a restaurant after my explaining that i am vegetarian and inquiring whether the sauce contained meat I was told: Yes, Miss, but You wont notice it as it is blended --- On Tue, 6/24/08, Natalie Mault <applenabby wrote: Natalie Mault <applenabby Re:OT Humorous challenges Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 4:40 PM I just had to throw in one of my many stories about living in the South (not that all places are like this, but my city is) and being one of the few vegetarians. Guest guest
What a hoot, Natalie! Someone offered to take pepperoni off my pizza the other day because I'm vegetarian. I'm afraid my screech was...unattractive to say the least. And I'll never forget someone offering me chicken fried steak, and when I said I didn't eat meat, they said... " It's not meat. It's chicken. " Hahahahha!! Guest guest
Bess, My name is Tym, i'm new here, but i wanted to say that i have had many of the same situations. The one that pops in my mind is that once i was visiting my mother who lives with my grandmother, my grandmother asks if i'd like something to eat, now mind you they know full about what i eat and what i don't...and i say sure, what do you have? She says, i have this great soup, here let me heat some up for you, and proceeds to throw it in the microwave! I say " nana, you know i don't eat food from the microwave... " and she says " no grandson of mine is going to eat cold soup! " Now she's about five feet tall but will kick my butt! So i just go along, whatever right? Good cleaning living with eliminate the radiation. So then i have a bit of my warm soup, and say " um, there is something in here... " both nod, and i say " is there Beef in this soup? " My mother very quickly replies " on no dear, just in the broth... " It was one of those moments when you are totally amused and totally repulsed at the same exact moment! Anyhow, it got me out of eating radiated soup, so i had that going for me. Cheers, Tym " bessmcbride " <bessmcbride wrote: > > What a hoot, Natalie! Guest guest
Hey Tym, Gotta love the relatives who love you. I've had lots of accidents with the broth thing. Amazing folks have to put animal fat juice in EVERYTHING, isn't it? Thanks for your story.
