Guest guest
Hi Dana, Welcome and congratulations on discovering raw food! You will love how you feel on raw! Remember that you can keep it simple. Fruit, fruit smoothies and salads don't take much time and are easy and yummy. Build your daily diet around those and save the more complicated recipes for the weekends, or when you have more time. Wishing you all the best! Guest guest
Hi Dana, Try looking at Dr. Graham's book 80/10/10 http://www.foodnsport.com?a_aid=ca6092fb You will find a raw diet that requires much less preparation than the average raw diet. Finally, a raw diet that makes sense! Simple, as nature intended. And after being on it only for two weeks - my level of energy soared! I have not felt so good in years! Guest guest
I agree, the 80/10/10 theory looks very easy to implement. I wonder, though, whether your increased energy is simply a sugar rush. Have you checked your blood glucose levels while on this plan? Guest guest
hi all I'm Melissa, and a new member here I do recognise some names from other lists, although I'm sort of the shy type. but I did want to become more active within at least a few groups, so I thought I'd say hello to you all just some background information on me - I'm a 42 year old single mother who was originally born and raised in the US and I relocated 14 years ago this coming October to the UK, where I have been living ever since. my son came with me, and I have had 2 daughters since then. we are all vegetarian, and I have to say vegetarian because in truth, leaving cheese alone is difficult. now, we don't eat it in mass quantities, and we do use vegetarian cheese where possible - not that this makes it any better (in my view). my goal is to eventually lose the desire for cheese and this is a tough one for us all. we don't use dairy of any kind, including eggs, so this is really our vice. I wanted to comment on the vegetarian thing raised by Shari. from what I have learned, being vegetarian means you eat fruits and vegetables, grains of all kinds including legumes, and dairy. eating any sort of flesh means you are not a vegetarian. personally speaking, I know how hard it is to make the transition. as I said, I am finding it hard to let cheese go. if only there were actually a range of GOOD tasting cheeses out there, I believe it would make life so much easier. the problem for me is, there aren't. I have tried all that I can find and they are ALL awful. what I would like to say to anyone out here - if you are incorporating more fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet than you ever have before, but you still enjoy your steaks or seafood or chicken or whatever, then at least you're eating much better than if you weren't having much fresh produce at all. eating is a very personal and intimate thing for everyone. it's also a heavily conditioned behaviour. we have always been told this, that, and the other about our food choices (as well as other life issues, but we'll stick to just this one), and it's hard sometimes to be able to decide what's good and what isn't. I'm 95% vegan, and if not for the cheese, I'd be fully vegan. so those of you out here that are struggling, or what have you, do be kind to yourselves and understand that even a small change is better than nothing at all! how wonderfully open minded and liberated you are for being able to go forth in this manner anyway, take care everyone, and keep the recipes coming all the best, Melissa

Guest guest
Hi Melissa, I wish you good luck in your personal journey...and I wish that I knew of a wonderful vegetarian cheese that I could recommend to you. I agree with what you said below; any efforts to improve one's diet and make it a healthier one is very personal and to be commended because the process is often not an easy one. My son always used to say, " but why does junk taste so good? " . Fortunately, there are recipes that are wonderful tasting and healthy too, that good people like the members in this group are happy to pass along! Guest guest
Well said, Melissa! Thank you. I'm new to the group, too. Cheese is my downfall as well. I can't help but wonder if there is some product in it that keeps us craving it...besides the fat content. I'd be a happy camper if I could give up cheese, and my struggle to find a tasty vegan cheese continues. It's out there. I just know it. P.S. I'd love to live in the U.K. for a while... I enjoy living in various countries... ;-) Bess McBride www.bessmcbride.com www.rvromance.com , " Silver Devi Dasi " <silvervcc wrote: > > hi all > > I'm Melissa, and a new member here I do recognise some names from > other lists, although I'm sort of the shy type. but I did want to > become more active within at least a few groups, so I thought I'd say > hello to you all
