Guest guest
Read a couple of posts about jessica Seinfeld's book to incorporate veggies on the thread about disguising veggies. Is this book good for vegetarians too or is it more about getting and hiding veggies into meat type dishes? I had a friend who made cookies with chickpeas or something and was happy with them, but she is a meat eater so I am curious about the book, I may try to track it down and flip though it. But just wondering from those who already have it? thanks, melissa P
Guest guest
I have that book! To be honest, I do think it's very meat-oriented. The only recipe I used from there is the Pumpkin Oatmeal. That is a great recipe and it's in our files. I would suggest getting this book from the library rather than purchasing it. Guest guest
I am looking at the book now. For me, if mainstream media even mentions tofu, veggie burgers, edemame, and beans as sources of protien, I think it is useable. That being said, it is a book about using vegetable purees in regular meals-sweet potatoes or carrots in French Toast, Rice Balls with spinach or broccoli, Greek Dip with chickpeas and artichokes, and yummy brownies with carrots and spinach. There are recipes in it for m & @tloaf and bolognese sauce, but I skip those ones. You may be able to use a m & @t substitute for some of them. If you get it and like it, share Cassie " life's a garden, dig it! Guest guest
I don't believe the Seinfeld's are vegetarian, are they? I can't remember hearing that. I got my second oldest daughter a copy of the book and she is loving it. She has 5 little boys from 14 to 4, including a set of 10 year old twins who are not the best vegetable eaters in the world. She has been sneaking vegetables in like crazy since I gave her the book. Anyway you can get vegetables into a balky child is good. I did the same basic thing that Jessica Seinfeld does, only I started doing it 40 years ago and was not smart enough to put it all in a book and sell it.... drat the luck! She also came up with a lot more recipes than I did and I have got to give her credit for some awfully smart mothering. I plan on getting 6 more copies so I can give my oldest daughter, and my two daughters-in-law copies for Christmas and put up the others for my 3 younger daughters so they can have a copy someday when they need it. And, I think checking out a book and looking it over before purchasing it is a great idea....thanks, Sharon! Nancy C. I have that book! To be honest, I do think it's very meat-oriented. Guest guest
They are not vegetarians. They did consult Dr. Oz and someone else (can't get to the book right now) and some of the Hints and Nutritional Facts are insightful and entertaining. Cassie " life's a garden, dig it! Guest guest
I didn't think they were.....and that is ok too.....everybody had to live their own life the way they want too. I liked the book and I am going to go ahead and get one of my daughters-in-law a copy for her birthday. I hope she likes it as much as my second daughter does. Nancy C. Guest guest
I saw JERRY Seinfeld on David Letterman a few years ago and he said he was a vegan... unless he has changed, but I have no clue about his wife.
