I just wanted to thank everyone who responded. I know a lot of people

suggested veggie lasagna or other similar dishes, but if you only knew

my family (well, my parents and siblings)...My dad would probably go

for it, but my mom, brother, and sister are so picky! My sister would

freak out and my mom would not eat in just in spite. They would

just " know " that the " meat " in the dish was not relly from an animal!

But, I do agree with people. This is my lifestyle now and they have to

accept it. I do not avoid them for eating meat and to chastise me for

not eating it is wrong! Because this is the first party we are hosting

since we are veggies, I may just opt out of a meal and serve sides and

snacks. My husband may disagree and cook burgers (so he can have one),

but if he wants to sit outside in 100+ degree heat, then so be it. I

will provide what non-meat dishes I can, veggie and fruit trays,

chips, cake, and ice cream...They can eat what they want! (At least we

are still ovo-lactos, so no one can complain about the cake and ice

cream!)

Thanks again! I feel much better about my feelings in this matter!

it depends upon how you feel really.

I do still make meat dishes for my family. not like I used to mind you, but I

will bake those chicken legs and throw some garlic powder on them.

thing is, they will learn by example, I can't force it on them. the more you

force, the more they will rebel.

I can live like this, I can make them a tray of meat and coexist with my own

foods. Since I have become a vegetarian, they have not, but they are a hell of a

lot more open to it anyway. now they don't need meat every single dinner, now

they are happy with 3 nights per week, so at least I have accomplished

something.

if you feel ok with serving them meat, if your husband will cook it, then go for

it. we cannot make them see our way, but we can ease them into it by example.

Ask Donna, she has converted many people with this philosophy. Just do what is

right for you.

hugs,

Chanda

another idea would be to make pizza. You can buy different toppings veggies,

etc.  Everyone can make their pizza to their liking.
