Guest guest
We actually picked up a cheap food-pro at Aldi. I think it was around $20, and it works very well. It has 2 interchangeable slicing blades and the mixing blade. They tend to get things in seasonal rotation, though, and now they have more summer-y stuff instead (I think we got ours in the winter or very early spring). We have had it for a while, it's basically got an on/off switch and a pulse button. It seems to work well and has handled everything we've thrown into it. On the other side of things - I was considering an Oster one. My mom has one that attaches to her Oster mixer base (she's had that since, the early 1980's and it still runs like a champ). For quality/durability that's the company I tend to go with for that type of stuff. They have some higher end ones that are probably comparable to the Vita-mix, I'm sure. But if I'm going higher end, I'd go with Kitchen Aid. The food-pro from Aldi was not something I would have thought about before, but the timing was right -I had a small generic one that in general wasn't really working for us in capacity, and it also ended up stripping out the gears inside of it when I tried to make the vegan nuttella from the Veganomicon. I had to do it in such small batches in that one and then it broke and then I found the cheap one at Aldi within a day or so of the old one breaking. It's still running like a champ, but then I've not asked it to really do any heavy work like the nuttella experiment. It's run through potatoes and onions (using the slicing and shredding blades), and copious amounts of hummus and such. Guest guest
I love this " mini prep " food processor, because I usually only cook for one or two people. It's amazing, easy-to-clean, and only $29.99! http://www.kitchenkapers.com/dlc2bc.html --- Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > I've had thi8s KitchenAid about 3 years and love it. > > http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KFP720WH-7-Cup-Processor-3-Cup/dp/B0007SXIOA/re\ f=pd_bbs_8?ie=UTF8 & s=home-garden & qid=1216040170 & sr=8-8 > > Mixes perfectly and makes grated cabbage for slaws, > etc. I've had this one 3 yrs > > http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KFP720WH-7-Cup-Processor-3-Cup/dp/B0007SXIOA/re\ f=pd_bbs_8?ie=UTF8 & s=home-garden & qid=1216040170 & sr=8-8 > > > Donna > > --- On Mon, 7/14/08, padmasanadave > <padmasanadave wrote: > > padmasanadave <padmasanadave > Food Processor > > Monday, July 14, 2008, 4:43 AM I don't own one, but I need one! Guest guest
You are about the third person I've heard say this. I know my KitchenAid is a blessing and I almost bought the new Cuisinart. Donna Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile lpbfhl Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:39:15 Re: Food Processor My original Cuisinart was awesome, but their latest, large-capacity model has never had one single well day. Everything has to be in some perfect placement for it to work, but they gloss over that in both video and booklet. I HATE IT and would NEVER buy another Cuisinart. Guest guest
I had to return a Quisinart blender/food processer. It quit on me like one day after the warranty was up. I got a little persistant and they let me exchange it. I got another Quisnart, put not a combination. Guest guest
I still love Cuisinart. I love the mini-prep food processor $29.99 [not good for large families] Blender [industrial strength-amazing on rushed ice] $50 [promotional sales] Coffee grinder $25 [also industrial strength, grinds nuts, herbs, etc] --- lpbfhl wrote: > My original Cuisinart was awesome, but their latest, > large-capacity > model has never had one single well day. Guest guest
Me, too. Does anyone know if Cuisinarts are still made by the original manufacturer or has the company changed hands? I have an old (20 years?) Braun. The container's been replaced several times because we get a little fumbly-fingered, but otherwise the original parts are still working beautifully. But, come to think of it, it's been a long time since I've heard anyone say good things about newer Braun food processors too... Peace, Mo thelilacflower wrote: > You are about the third person I've heard say this. Guest guest
I'm off to order a Kitchen Aid ... Their mixer is phenomenal, and I really miss having a food processor I can use (unlike this hideous Cuisinart 14-cup paperweight). MANY thanks! thelilacflower wrote: >You are about the third person I've heard say this. I know my >KitchenAid is a blessing and I almost bought the new Cuisinart. The attachments (blades) even come in a covered, clear box. That 14-cup Cuisinart atrocity never had a well day. I can't thank you enough for recommending the KitchenAid. , thelilacflower wrote: >You are about the third person I've heard say this. Guest guest
I have the mini also and it is great for quick chops and such. I don't know what I would do without the little devil. - judith bell Cc: nargess Tuesday, July 15, 2008 10:58 PM Re: Food Processor I still love Cuisinart.
