I just came back from the supermarket with a tray of fresh California

Figs. I have only ever eaten the dry. What is the best way to eat

these?? Salads, with rice??? I'm really a fig newbie!

Thanks

We have a fig recipe folder in the files. I make fig bread, they are good cut

in pieces and eaten with a sharp cheese on bread and crackers. I love to wash

them and eat as is.

Wow I just checked recipes and if I try all of those I will have to

buy more figs! I just ate one from the tray and yes, they are

delicious 'as is' as well. For some reason I always thought figs

needed to be cooked.

I should introduce myself while I am at it. My name is Julie. I am a

Nurse in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada. I have been vegan for probably

30 years. I have one occasional meat indulging husband, a vegetarian

daughter, meat eating son and another vegan son. I can't cook beans,

have limited crock pot use and eat mainstream vegetables and protein.

I guess I am living proof that veganism doesn't have to be hard.

Donna's Fig Bread and my grilled Figs w Goat Cheese & Peppered Honey

are my 2 favorite ways to have figs (both recipes in Fig Folder).

Plain right out of the basket are wonderful too.

Peace,

Diane
