Hmm green olives (I like the black and purple ones), aniseed generally (but I

can just about take fennel in cooking if there isn't too much of it) also

mustard! again I can have it in cooking but not straight (comes from helping out

at a function and having to mix up 6 pints of English mustard from powder!),

Marmite (*shudder* yeast extract again cooking only!) and finally even though I

love them they hate me and so peanuts and nuts have to go on the list LOL

Ha, ha, dare I say I say it? Mayonaise, veganaise, anything vaguely

similar just makes me shudder, always has. I know I'm part of a tiny

minority on this. In fact, I don't remember ever meeting anyone who

shared my passionate dislike of the stuff. Don't throw things at me,

please! :)

I saw on some show on TV, I forget what show, this woman who had a phobia to

mayonnaise. It was a real phobia.

I used to hate olives, then, one day when I was 42, I started to like them. Now,

I LOVE them.

I had a sort of opposite situation with coffee:

I started drinking it when I was about 20/21 and it took a bit of getting used

to, then at one stage I drank it every morning routinely. One day in 2000 I made

my breakfast coffee as usual but didn't really want it but drank it anyway; soon

after this I started feeling a bit ill after drinking coffee so just drank

moccachinos whenever I was in a cafe. One day though, I felt a bit ill after a

mochachino so stopped drinking them too. I have had coffee once or twice since

though - once with fresh ginger in it as I had a sore throat.

wow, I had the same thing happen with tomato juice. I can eat tomatoes, but I

used to drink a tomato juice every morning, until one day it started to make me

sick to my stomach.

I'll join you in the firing line there, Mo. I can't stand mayonnaise.

Even the thought of it makes me feel queasy! So now you have " met "

someone who shared your abhorrence of it!

I don't love mayo, but homemade vegannaise made with tofu  in small doses is

more tolerable to me since it's not eggy....

I don't like mayonnaise either, especially the commercial kinds like

Best Foods. It is greasy and uses poor quality oil and vinegar. I

have discovered that I can tolerate home made mayonnaise if I make it

myself and use olive oil, basmati vinegar, and dejon mustard.

Lol, no, but I understand the impulse...every time I've been proudly

handed a heaping bowl of potato salad made from someone's much beloved

family recipe :) (Why, oh why, do so many families lovingly pass down

their potato salad recipes? *grin*) Hugs, Mo

Hi Dragon

I'm with you on the mustard dislike but I love love love Marmite - I'm

definitely in the minority on that one, especially in this group.

I can't remember if you've posted here before but it's good to see you

I'm embarrassed to say this on this group, but... Almost all cooked

vegetables. Fruits (including tomato) are OK cooked, but if the

veggies aren't raw it's going to be hard getting me to eat them. I

don't mind beans that aren't green when cooked (like pinto, white

beans, lentils) except chickpeas which I only eat if I have to, but I

haven't figured out yet what it is about those I don't like. Oh, and

broccoli and avocado seem yucky but I think that's bad childhood

memories resurfacing. My guinea pig LOVES broccoli but he only gets

it as a special treat because it makes him gassy if I let him eat as

much as he'd like. I love the feel of avocado on my skin when I'm

making guacamole for DH. :-)

You know I had a hard time eating cooked vegetables for years! But it was

because all we ate growing up were canned, cooked to mush vegies. It took me

years to discover vegies actually tasted good if cooked right. Now I love it

all except Okra and brussel sprouts.

I still haven't gotten past the Lima beans from child hood though. LOL I

can't stand canned fruit either. Fresh only.

I cannot stand oregano. My husband loves it, and tells me it's good

for me. He even used to add it to stuff thinking I wouldn't know, but I

ALWAYS tasted it and wouldn't eat it. I told him there's a reason it's

called orega-NO!

I grew up on Miracle Whip instead of Mayo, so I don't like Mayo. Since

Miracle Whip has an ingredient I avoid (either high fructose corn syrup

or partially hydrogenated something) I got rid of it and tried the

Vegannaise. I don't hate it, but I don't really like it either.
