Guest guest
I work with a gal who has a baby who will soon be one year old. She has been very sick and had to have heart surgery--she is fine now but she cannot drink regular formula, soy formula, or milk without vomiting violently. Is there a recipe we can use to make a birthday cake for her using no milk or rice milk? I looked in the files but there doesn't seem to be a plain white cake; I thought if I found one using soy milk we could just substitute the rice milk. I am a fairly new vegetarian and I don't have many vegetarian cookbooks yet but could get one from the library if someone has a suggestion. Thanks (and Baby Willa says Thank You, too). Guest guest
I use rice milk, it works fine. I prefer the taste of rice milk on cereal over soy milk so that's what I have on hand most of the time. I bake with it all the time. Guest guest
I have a recipe for an eggless, butterless, milkless cake.....you can make it chocolate, leave out the chocolate and add spices for a spice cake or leave out the cocoa and the spices for a plain vanilla cake. Would you like the recipe? It is called a Crazy Cake, also known as a Wacky Cake. I made one 38 years ago for a friend's daughter's first birthday cake as Marie was allergic to eggs, milk and butter. It makes a nice, moist cake. Nancy C. I work with a gal who has a baby who will soon be one year old.
