Guest guest
this might be an odd question but... my older son just got his braces on this week... for 2 weeks he is to stay away from crunchy foods... apples, carrots, etc... I am sure there is a huge amount of 'soft' veggie foods... but any specific recommendations for a picky 11 year old? thanks!! Guest guest
does he like stews and soups? The falafel patties in a bread sandwich would be great. tomato soup is always a great ol' standby, with some grilled cheese, yumz. also, Amy's chickenless soup is good too, I forget the name of it. I will think of more, Hugs, Chanda - Dr S Greene * mAke the grAde Saturday, August 23, 2008 11:50 AM mushy food! this might be an odd question but... my older son just got his braces on this week... for 2 weeks he is to stay away from crunchy foods... apples, carrots, etc... Guest guest
Squashes over cooked with butter, salt, and pepper are good. Refried beans are good. Over cooked pinto beans are good. Carrots over cooked are good. Of course, all can be mashed and various flavors added. Mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes are excellent. Hope this helps! Guest guest
oh yeah, you can do a faux shepherds pie with mashed potatoes and Quorn crumbles. Any kind of cooked potato would be great. you can do potato wedges, just cut up red potatoes, and add a little spices, whatever floats your boat, I use Dill, garlic powder and Spanish paprika, but you can use anything, and add some sour cream or some ranch dressing or even some Italian dressing and maybe even some grated onion and bake till tender. he could even eat French fries, I think all teens like those right? oh, and mac and cheese, I think it is illegal for a teen not to like mac and cheese. then there is applesauce, and the softer fruits like peaches and bananas etc. broccoli is great a little overcooked with some butter or margarine or olive oil, and as always, you can perk up anything with a touch of garlic powder. hugs, Chanda hugs, Chanda - Marilyn Daub Saturday, August 23, 2008 12:04 PM Re: mushy food! Guest guest
Try smoothies, combine a bit of peanut butter or tofu with fruits, veggies and green tea extract - it is sweet and a nice breakfast or snack. I make smoothies when my kids won't eat lunch or are just being picky - It is healthy and they will always have one. Good Luck! --- On Sat, 8/23/08, Dr S Greene * mAke the grAde <mtgrade wrote: Dr S Greene * mAke the grAde <mtgrade mushy food! Guest guest
Macaroni and cheese is a good child pleaser and easy to make with a white sauce as long as you are not a vegan. I had braces--it can be painful to eat stuff at first until you adjust.
