Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew if avocados could be frozen.I was thinking of pitting and peeling one, then slicing it and drizzling it with lemon juice, then placing the slices on a baking sheet in the freezer til frozen and then putting the frozen slices in a ziplock bag and keeping them in the freezer and just thaw a slice as needed. What do ya'll think? Rob
Guest guest
I don't believe avocados can be frozen that way.? I puree it, add a little lemon juice (about a teaspoon and a half per avocado), and then freeze.?
Guest guest
That will work great I have done it many times. We have a tree and I just cut, peel and add some salsa and freeze. Then later when we want it, we just defrost. cpoma On Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 1:50 PM, Robert <placidazure1 wrote: > Hi, > I was wondering if anybody knew if avocados could be frozen.I was > thinking of pitting and peeling one, then slicing it and drizzling it > with lemon juice, then placing the slices on a baking sheet in the > freezer til frozen and then putting the frozen slices in a ziplock bag > and keeping them in the freezer and just thaw a slice as needed. > What do ya'll think? > Rob > > >
Guest guest
Of all the avocados we eat here in L.A. I have never frozen any and I asked 7 others after I saw your post. Nope none of us know the answer. Now Trader Joe's makes a great guacamole when I don't have ripe avocados and I have frozen theirs and it thaws perfectly but then again it's in a vacuum pack. But I'll repost the recipe anyway: Sliced Avocado Sliced Cucumber Sliced Tomato Sliced Red Onion Hummus Lettuce Bread or Wrap Hope ya'll are having a great weekend Rob
Guest guest
I've never tried it with the lemon juice but I have tried freezing guacamole (which has lime juice in it) & the result is yucky. Brown and tasteless. Around here we just resign ourselves to eating the entire avocado - oh the humanity Peace, Diane , " Robert " <placidazure1 wrote: > > Hi, > I was wondering if anybody knew if avocados could be frozen.I was > thinking of pitting and peeling one, then slicing it and drizzling it > with lemon juice, then placing the slices on a baking sheet in the > freezer til frozen and then putting the frozen slices in a ziplock bag > and keeping them in the freezer and just thaw a slice as needed. > What do ya'll think? > Rob >
