Guest guest
If it is dispersing in the tides, where is it going, and how can they say there will be no enviromental damage? New oil slick appears off coast The previous oil slick was five miles (8km) longAn investigation is under way into the cause of a second oil slick off the north Wales coast, two weeks after pollution in the same place. The slick in the Menai Strait was reported to Holyhead Coastguard at 0345 BST on Sunday. The agency said tides had broken up the slick, adding it is not believed to pose a serious environmental risk. The new slick was reported to be about one mile long, compared to the previous five-mile (8km) slick on 25 June. The source of the first leak was the disused Ferotec Realty Ltd site in Caernarfon. Following the leak, the company confirmed the oil had come from their site, but said "unauthorised personnel" had been present leading up to the leak. John Rowlands, of the Environment Agency, said the latest slick did not pose a serious environmental risk. "The most recent oil slick in the Menai Strait is dispersing," he said. "It's much smaller than the previous one two weeks ago. "We don't expect any real environmental damage." Peter H Try the all-new Mail .
