Guest guest
http://tinyurl.com/ktjab ....the above link is to an mp3 of a remarkable story that I suspect requires a little explanation for some folks here. Jean Shepherd was for many years a broadcaster for WOR New York and author whose forte in both fields was the short story. Some of his stories were woven together to create the novel IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS PAY CASH, which in turn was the basis for the movie A CHRISTMAS STORY. Probably the closest friendship he had with a publisher was with Hugh Hefner, who published many of his stories in Playboy. In 1964, Hef hired Shep to interview The Beatles during their concert tour of the U.K. in the Autumn of 1964. Upon his return, Shep delivered this monologue on his radio show about his experiences and observations during the tour. It's one hour and 46 minutes long, so it's probably best to save the mp3 to your computer and listen to it when you have enough time to devote to it, but I'm especially curious about our British contingent's reaction to Shepherd's description of their country in 1964 ;-) ... .... -- King Daevid MacKenzie, WLSU-FM 88.9 La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA heard Sundays 8:00 A.M. PST/PDT over KRFP-LP 92.5 Moscow, Idaho and at http://www.krfp.org/documents/listen_windowsmedia.asx archived in mp3 at http://www.radio4all.net http://www.myspace.com/kingdaevid " You can live in your dreams, but only if you are worthy of them. I don't have either the hard disk space, or the time... perhaps you could give us a brief synopsis so that we could comment? :-) BB Peter
Guest guest
As I am not on broadband it would take much too long to download. Can you please give us a precise of the article so that we may comment on it. It would be handy to know what the description of Britain in 1964 was, as it was the year I left school, and was a year I remember very well.
