Guest guest
Hi Fraggle and all, This is my first year ever trying corn and mine is doing great too! It is about 7' tall and has 3 ears each and I already got to harvest one and it looks perfect! I tried to harvest another and it wasn't ready yet. I got excited and too greedy. LOL I started the corn from seed, but then some didn't take so I also filled in with a couple of plants. So I am unsure which is which but the one I picked is the most beautiful ear I have ever seen. All else in the garden is going pretty well too. Some of my bell peppers are acting strange though. A few of them are showing what looks like the top of the skin missing, as if it were and oval hole that skinned over a little. Dunno, hard to describe and no pics avail. It is not just one plant either. I have red, yellow, orange, purple and chocolate and almost all have at least one pepper this way. Almost as if it grew on its side as opposed to hanging down and got sunburn. Nikki sorry to hear that thought you guys were having a dry year??? figure that would discourage the slugs! our corn is the biggest i've ever grown always had issues with corn..never got really high.. this year..woot! some of the corn is 7' tall, and have three ears on each stalk hope we get some! lotsa raccoons around lately not to mention corn moths.... Guest guest
Nice one Nikki. My chili plants are doing well, flowers have set and I am giving them a seaweed feed. My strawberries are nearly finished now ( only have 4 plants - different varieties to spread out the crops), and my bloody blueberries still aint ripe! Oh and in another part of the garden, my new fur baby is growing nicely! Guest guest
You too! All of my hot peppers are doing well, it is the bells that have me worried. My June-Bearing strawberries are flowering for some reason again and the Ever-bearing are still going, but not as strong. The new raspberry bush has given me about 6 berries so far and I just had my first cherry tomato. I think I am going to be picking peppers and cucumbers real soon tho! Afraid to ask, but what is a fur-baby? Nikki , peter VV <swpgh01 wrote: > > Nice one Nikki. My chili plants are doing well, flowers have set and I am giving them a seaweed feed.
