what do you call fat made from vegetables?

Vegetable shortening

A vegetarian alternative to lard, this is a solid fat made from hydrogenated

vegetable oils. It can be substituted for other fats in cooking and is often

used in baking.

I wouldn't recommend using that - very unhealthy!

Margarine, but usually not hydrogenated fat. There are white solid

vegetable fats here, but they are so unhealthy.

oh dear that's right Jo i never realised it was

hydrogenated vegetable oil.

I steer clear of this as it's very bad.
