Guest guest
I have always wanted a reptile since I was little but couldn't handle the fact you had to feed them live animals. I used to go to the pet stores just to look when I was a little kid and I was looking at the snakes and saw him eating a white mouse. I just lost it and started crying. Ever since then I couldn't bring myself to have one as a pet but then I found out that not all of them eat other animals. So I saw that there were some that was rescued at a local shelter here and I was wondering if anyone can tell me which reptiles are vegetarians. I would like to help these animals out if my husband will let me cause we only have animals that are rescued . I feel its wrong to by from those pet stores because they encourage puppy mills. Guest guest
Yeah, crazy snakes, wow. Including the feeders! You got me there, I seem to have difficulty to come up with a veggie reptile .......... maybe a turtle . Rescued, hum, interesting. If you can help them live on their own (in the wild, free) I think that would be very cool. Especially turtles or any other reptile. Guest guest
be wary of what you rescue and attempt ot release into the wild many reptiles in the pet trade come from far afield...even turtles... they could bring exotic diseases, breeding and becoming an invasive, or just end up dying... (you wouldn't want t o release an iguana in central park!) if you are really interested in rescuing reptiles, i would suggest going to a reptile show, and find someone to talk to... unless you have a reputable place near you (we have the east bay vivarium here) but..there are a number of vegetarian reptiles... iguanas being the most known.... cheers fraggle Freebird005 Aug 3, 2006 9:30 PM Re: question about reptiles Yeah, crazy snakes, wow. Guest guest
hi tara, I love reptiles too, there are many lizards of all colors in my backyard, due to the fact that I have a lot of insects. The snakes in turn eat the lizards. I love snakes and feel very priviledged in those rare instances when I have been able to pet one. It is said that lizards come from a bird branch that was torn many millions of years ago. I see the resemblance with birds and lizards. , " Tara Van Nostrand " <et0ile13 wrote: > > I have always wanted a reptile since I was little but couldn't handle the > fact you had to feed them live animals.
