non-leather colonial items

Greetings everyone;

I have been a member for many years however, this is my first post.

My family and I are interested in getting involved in Revolutionary

War reenacting. Most items are easily made with linen or cotton or a

suitable subsitute. The problem is items such as colonial shoes, a

drum for my son (drum and fife) with non-leather skins etc.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Carin

Non-Leather Drum Heads

Musicians searching for non-leather drum heads can write to Laughing Crow Arts,

25370 Wolf Creek Road, Crow, OR 97487; or call (503) 935-3372. Their drums are

ceramic with man-made Fiberskyn * heads. The drums are heat and water resistant.

and then

scroll down and check out the colonial shoe buckle

Hi Carin

I bought a vegan drum for Peter a few years ago, from The Vegan Society. It

would be worth contacting them for the details of the chap who makes the

drums to see if he could help.

I'm glad you have unlurked :-)

Thank you for the response. That Ronjo website is wonderful! The

colonial shoes look great however, I will need a shoe that is more

authentic and not just shoe covers. But I have saved that website

for future reference.

The drum info looks very promising. I will contact them now.

Thanks again,

Carin
