Guest guest
I read his " Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating " which is what turned me from Vegetarian to Vegan. Now I am looking to expand my knowledge a bit and was thinking of this book. Any suggestions? Comments? Thanks, PJ

Guest guest
I have I have! But you know what made me a vegetarian even when I may not feel like being a vegetarian? Those PETA movies. You can watch them right on the PETA website. I know there are a lot of good reasons for being a vegetarian ... health, environmental, economic. Watching the videos of the animals living miserable lives is difficult. But what forever changed me was looking into the face of a terrified cow, struggling against death with all she had. All the reading and knowledge in the world just couldn't match that for impact in my heart. "Earthlings" is a DVD available from PETA also, which covers pretty much every kind of animal abuse. The nice thing about videos is that you can sometimes get your non-veg friends to actually sit and watch them, while they aren't like to read a book. peace, sharon fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: have you read any of John Robbins books?>pjsparkles80 <pjsparkles80 >>Dec 12, 2006 10:23 AM> > Meat Market by Erik Marcus>>I read his "Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating" which is what turned me >from Vegetarian to Vegan. Guest guest
I have not read any of Robbins' book, but Food Revolution looks a lot like " The China Study " which I have read (actually I did not read the last half, I think I may have a mild case of ADHD) , fraggle <EBbrewpunx wrote: > > have you read any of John Robbins books? > > > >pjsparkles80 <pjsparkles80 > >Dec 12, 2006 10:23 AM > > > > Meat Market by Erik Marcus > > > >I read his " Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating " which is what turned me > >from Vegetarian to Vegan. Guest guest
It is pretty heartbreaking. I do believe every meat-eater should be required to watch them. If you're gonna eat it, you should at least be informed. peace, sharonpjsparkles80 <pjsparkles80 wrote: I cannot watch those PETA movies for more than a minute. Guest guest
Sometimes it is impossible to get interested in a book, which makes it very difficult to finish. Guest guest
Having seen one or two horrible films, I avoid them like the plague. Once you know what is going on you do not have to subject yourself to watching them again and again - it does not help. Guest guest
I don't re-watch them. But even though I had read all the books, "knew" all the stuff, and had been an on-again off-again vegetarian for many years, those are what changed my life. Don't have to watch them over and over. They stay in my mind. I see them whenever I pass through the meat section at the supermarket. peace, sharonheartwerk <jo.heartwork wrote: Having seen one or two horrible films, I avoid them like the plague. Guest guest
There are many many many good books out there in what direction are you interested? animal rights? spiritual? recipes? personal experiences? broad overview? newbies? >pjsparkles80 <pjsparkles80 >Dec 12, 2006 7:40 PM > > Re: Meat Market by Erik Marcus > >I cannot watch those PETA movies for more than a minute. Guest guest
I watch them ocasionally because I want to be reminded of what it is exactly that I am fighting for and I don't ever want to forget about the animals. If somone watches those documentaries (secret footage) too often or too much. Deppression can occur. -anouk , Shhhhh <compassion2grace wrote: > > It is pretty heartbreaking.
