Guest guest
Hi Peter What are your chrimbo cracker surprises like? We've just made a nut roast to cook tomorrow, and a Yule Log. We will also be making a Lemon Drizzle Cake. Nobody wants a Christmas cake or pud this year. We've made cards, so not too much to do now. We'll just go out early to see the sunrise on Solstice - probably somewhere quite local. Mind you - I don't think we'll see the sun as we have had thick fog for the last two days and nights! On Sunday we joined the Druid Winter Solstice ritual at Wilmington, with 60 others. It was most enjoyable. Do your girls still have stockings? Guest guest
My christmas cracker surprises this year are a middle filling of roast vegetables ( butternut squash/fennel/red onion/yellow pepper/aubergine, fresh coriander, pine nuts and cous cous soaked in stock with a little spice, and the two end bits will be stuffed with mushroom rice ( shallots/field & dried mushrooms/ thyme/roast garlic/ basmati rice/white wine/some of the mushroom liqour). Tonight we assemble them with shop bought puff pastry. Should be enough to make 10 ish. Never found a nut roast recipe that I liked? I like the sound of the cake. I think the fog will be around for another day yet. My girlies do not have stockings, well sort of, but with their main pile of presents, not like when I was a kid at the bottom of my bed ( always a leg off a pair of tights and always with a large orange in the toe ). Guest guest
Hi Fraggle >now, whats a x-mas cracker shape then? OK... get the inside of a toilet roll (y'know, the cardboard bit in the middle). Now get a bit of fancy coloured paper which is about twice the length of the cardboard tube. Roll the cardboad tube in the paper, and then twist the paper around at either side to create an enclosed centre segment, and two ends....
