Guest guest
Forgive the novice in me but this whole lifestyle is brand new and I'm looking for sound direction from those who have been doing this awhile. Can anyone suggest books or websites that you highly recommend that gives an over-all view of veganism. I've stopped consuming all animal products but as I read some of the posts I wonder about household items, clothing, and other products that I'm oblivious to. Thanks for your help! *mona
Guest guest
Well, PETA pops to my mind first of all. They have a lot of offbranches, like caringconsumer.com, where you can find out about companies that do and don't test on animals. And you can order lots of resources. They have a little pocket booklet that you can order, something like fifty of them for $5 or so (long time since I ordered it), so you can carry it with you when you shop and whip it out to see if the product you are considering was tested on animals. They also have a book, which is revised each year, that goes into these things in more depths. You can also purchase other books and videos there. I got " Earthlings " which is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix. If you ever feel a temptation to eat meat, I guarantee the look in a cow's terrified eyes will come to remind you why you shouldn't. blessings, sharon > " *mona " <ahnochirah > > > Forgive novice ... >Sat, 30 Dec 2006 13:13:28 -0000 > >Forgive the novice in me but this whole lifestyle is brand new and I'm >looking for sound direction from those who have been doing this >awhile. Guest guest
there's a book out, been out fer a bit Animal Ingredients A -Z lists EVERY dang animal ingredient out there As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there's a twilight where everything remains seemingly unchanged, and it is in such twilight that we must be aware of change in the air, however slight, lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness. Guest guest
What started me off was probably the compasion for animals angle rather than the healthy vibe. The most challenging thing, is probably eating out still with family or friends, being singled out. Guest guest
YES! I'm singled out as well and that has been a little uncomfortable but it's also been a time to plant ideas as I'm usually asked WHY I've decided to live such a restricted life. LOL! I don't feel restricted at all. There are plenty of choices and lots of new kinds of foods to try. I also have a lot of Vegan resturants within a short distance and it's going to be fun scoping them out and learning about new dishes and such.
