How lovely--squirrels happen to be one of my absolute

favorite animals.

I realize I have yet to properly introduce myself to

everyone in this forum. So here goes...

My journey to veganism started last year when here, in

Southern Connecticut, the local utility company

(United Illuminating) began gassing the beautiful Monk

Parakeets who were nesting on the utility polls.

Absolutely outraged, I began following the story and

came across the website of an AR organization suing

the utility company. It was on that website that I had

my fist intro to veganism. The day that I read about

animal exploitation—the horrors of factory farming,

the disgusting fur trade, animal experimentation,

etc—is the day I became vegan. Best, most logical and,

frankly, the easiest choice I have ever made.

What do I do to pay the rent… Well, I am acting

publicist for my husband’s band. It’s not what I

aspired to be, but it’s what I’m doing for now. We’re

going on a couple short tours coming up this spring

and got roped into selling merch for the band. My deal

w/them is, I’ll sit there at the merch table for 3

hours a night as long as I can do some vegan outreach.

So I got me some literature from peaceful prairie

sanctuary and am now looking forward to the prospect

that someone out in Chicago or Pittsburgh or Toledo

may become vegan because they went to go see Bomb

Squad and the guitarist’s wife agreed to sell their

merchandise!

My favorite thing in the world to do is volunteer at a

local animal shelter. I never thought I’d be able to

do it (want to take every little guy and gal home with

me) but being there every few days has been the

greatest gift I’ve ever received (and so far, I’ve

only taken one little fellow home with me!)

While there's always so much more to say, I'll stop

now as I do have a tendency to go on and on...

Look forward to getting to know everyone!
