Guest guest
Hi Simon, try to eat what I eat ... only fruit and vegies. Then drop all salt, grains and fat from your diet ... then come and tell me that you can't lose any weight. I eat all fruit during the day, then for my evening meal, I have one raw salad and some steamed mixed vegies. That's all I eat day in and day out. Salt is very toxic to your body. Grains are constipating, since the body can't digest them. And we where never meant to be fat eaters. All fats are acid forming, even those of vegetable origins and are not used by the body. Just thinking out loud ... In Health ... Guest guest
Yes, that is a lot of weight. That's pretty much the weight that I've lost since last May, and I can tell you that if I put that weight back on I'd be gutted! Mind you, I exercise a lot. I've done an hour's aerobics class already this morning which completely knackered me at the time, but I feel good now! I think you can eat quite a high fat diet (although I don't personally) but if you exercise a lot you won't put on weight. Even yoga which isn't as physical as aerobics keeps me in shape and I enjoy that the most. Janey x > 30lbs in a year? Guest guest
Hi Laura, maybe 50% are organic. In the Winter, it is harder for me to find all organic. But come Summer, we have marvelous farmer stands and a farmers market locally and I can get mostly organic, home grown produce. Either way, I am doing really well. As long as I can run 5 to 10 miles daily (age 54), I can't complain. In Health ... Guest guest
Obviously he was not you but he was german and studying in England for a time He ate only Raw food and no sugar or salt . It seemed strange at the time but I am slowly coming round to the idea that it is the only logical diet I try to eat only raw for breakfast and lunch (when at work it is easy). I tend to be hungry when I get home If I'm good I have a mixed salad but need potatoes or bread to fill me up . Weekends are harder as I may be out on a stall (and go to the veggie take-away ) or tempted to eat bread all day if at home !!!! But I'm working on it I need to lose weight . I might try cooked veg at the evening meal as you suggested PS We hardly got any snow in Nottingham ,and the flowers are starting to come up and there is blossom on a few trees ----Wonderful - Werner Saturday, March 02, 2002 5:42 PM Re: weight Hi Angie, I would love to visit England. Guest guest
You are bound to lose weight with all that healthy raw food eating, I admire your will-power, I am seriously lacking in it these days and have been munching on Rakusen's chocolate digestives today. Good thing for me as well as Lucy that I'm breastfeeding her or I would be putting on weight the way I am eating! Guest guest
Hi Angie, I was 100% raw for a little over year, but now I'll eat baked potatoes and steamed vegies for supper. No bread, only fruits and vegies. I got tired of being a fanatic about what I ate, and the steamed foods seem to agree with me. I tried bread too, but my weight started to go up. Without the bread or grains, my weight seems to stabilize. I'm 5'6" and about 136 lbs. I'm with you ... I need something to fill me up. Had a bowl of steamed mixed vegies and now it is 6 p.m. and I will not eat again until about 8 a.m tomorrow morning ... after my 5 mile run. Tomorrow morning ... 15 deg. C and strong winds out of the north. Ought to make for an interesting 5 mile run. In Health .... Werner. P.S. we've had warm weather too recently and some trees have buds on them. And the daffodils are trying to come up. Guest guest
Hi Anita, I don't worry about weight. I'm 54 years old, 5'6 " and I weigh 136 lbs. Guest guest
Didn't say 30lbs in one year. Answered the 30lb thing seperately. But it's a well documented fact that as a person ages the metabolism slows down so less food (or less calories are) is needed. And, in my case, once you're used to eating a certain amount it's very difficult to cut back... Guest guest
I'm like you Werner. I too tried the raw food diet, but then succumbed to bread and such like recently. Guest guest
I've read that we have a set point body weight that we naturally gravitate back to when we are eating correctly. My concern is caloric intake; mine has dropped drastically from when I was on the SAD. I eat raw about 80% of the time or more and wondered if anyone here experienced weight issues. Thanks, *mona
