Guest guest
Well, I had better start eating more. I am 5'-7 " and usually weigh between 135-140lbs. Since I have been on a Vegan (mostly raw) diet, I have gone down to about 128lbs. Arggggg.... I started itemizing my meals, and counting calories, but left the list at home. I will have to rewrite it and count my calories. I think part of my issue is that I am not getting enough fat calories. I need more nuts, or something. What other types of fruits and veggies have higher calories, and fat?

Guest guest
Of course, you mean RAW fruit and veggies, right? Coconut comes to mind! Do you have access to young coconut water? Definitely nuts, seeds, avocadoes, as you already know. You probably should start eating more often, and using nuts as a snack. Raw almond (or other nut) butter is higher fat. Almond butter on celery, yum! Not all raw foodists eat raw 100% of the time. Are you opposed to mixing in some cooked vegan food? What about using cold-pressed oils & /or vinegar for dressing? Guest guest
Yes, raw........I could probably find some coconuts, with milk in them. I will be going to the store tomorrow. One issue I have had with coconuts is that the inside is always rotten. I have to find a good local supplier. I have trouble finishing an entire avocado. It is even tough to finish 1/2 of one. I have been forcing myself though. No, I think cooked Vegan food, with some tofu might be fine. I have been eating about 600 calories of nuts and seeds/day (roasted sunflower, and raw almonds). Vinegar is OK, but I don't like the oils. -- Scottwww.HikeHaven.comwww.AntiFuel.comMinds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open. Guest guest
Scott- here's a great website about "Thai young coconuts". Many raw foodists and others extoll the virtues of a young Thai coconut. They are very different from the one's you've described as rotten inside. http://www.youngcoconuts.com/benefits.html Also, the Vegan Society's raw food website: http://www.vegansociety.com/html/food/raw_food.php They even give a sample daily diet of 2000 calories, and the nutrients it provides. (scroll down to the bottom of the article) Not to suggest you go elsewhere for your vegan commaraderie, but have you checked out the raw (s)? There are no less than 833 raw groups! There might be a group near you. Marcy - Scott Thursday, July 19, 2007 3:19 PM Re: losing weight Yes, raw........I could probably find some coconuts, with milk in them. Guest guest
Thanks for the links. I am in the and the vegan_network . I haven't found a group in my area, but I will start looking for one. Here is what I ate so far today:Breakfast = 693 calories: 2 cups almond milk 160 calories2 bananas 210 calories1 cantaloupe 277 caloriesLunch = 1215 calories:2 serv sunflowers 400 calories2 serv almonds 240 calories2 med carrots 100 calories1 apple 75 calories 2 serv peanut butter 400 caloriesDinner = 480 calories + salad calories1/2 avocado 145 calories1 mango 135 calories2 cups soy milk 200 calories1 large salad with the following - not sure how many calories: tomato, lettuce, Arudula, Dulse, sunflower seeds1 handful of grapes 106 caloriesThis equals over 2388 + salad = maybe 2700 calories. I may have an apple before bed too.I think I did a pretty good job on calories today. I hope I can keep it up. I will start eating more often, instead of all at once. I fill up too quickly when I eat everything at one time.I am planning on eating a pineapple for lunch tomorrow. Should I be concerned about too much citric acid in my tummy? Also, this new has started wreaking havoc on my stomach, how long should I expect this to last? I expect this is just part of the cleansing process.-- Scottwww.HikeHaven.com www.AntiFuel.comMinds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open.On 7/19/07, Marcy <imgreen03 wrote: Scott- here's a great website about " Thai young coconuts " . Guest guest
SOY products hi in protien will give you a boost, and it has enough calories of fat that are healthy for you STOP COUNTING calories. Eat breakfast and lunch the same, make sure yoe know they amount of calories you eat, which is usually no more than 400-600, depending on height. And then eat a veggie dinner. I LOVE veggie fake meats, they are delicious, you should try them I stopped counting my meals i ate, just eat healthily, eat vegan soy foods and veggies fake meats and that has enough fats and calories in there to live healthily I am also 5'7.. ok 5'6 and 3/4. But I way 116 the usual-118, SOMETIMES 120 when I am *cough cough* women ordeal. This is what i eat fro breakfast 2 peanut butter toasts with a side dish of fruit Chopped up strawberries some cherries, a full banana and kiwi I am FULL after my morning breakfats at 6am 12pm comes around and I eat fruits and usually vegetarian soup, or a soy bar with some fruit Dinner comes around I eat what I want. lol glass of chocolate SOY milk or RICE milk, maybe two glasses if I am hungry enough some soy products, a couple vegatables, a high protien GOLEAN Kashi bar, has 12grams of protien and 5grams of fat. And I am content after each meal and I don go over 120 on my womenly days (when I eat more protien and soy products or Rice milk products) and usually around 116 on good days

Guest guest
Yes, it sounds great. I am munching on a piece of Kale. It is my first eating this stuff. It is pretty good. I spoke with a few people before I tried it and they told me it is horrible stuff. I couldn't disagree more. However, I have to agree on the Dandelion; that is some bitter stuff. , " heartwerk " <jo.heartwork wrote: > > Your day's diet sounds good - it's making me hungry :-) > > Jo >
Guest guest
I'll try to sort out the recipe (and the soup ones I promised a while ago). The leeks were in a sort of white sauce in the pancakes. They were tasty. Jo , " hacktorious " <hacktorious wrote: > > Leeks in pancakes.... That sounds a little odd.
