Guest guest
Sorry to hear that. That is horrible. I was hit by a car about a year ago. As I was laying in the intersection people just drove around me like I was a pothole, or something. I have been very cautious since then. In fact, I have been so cautious I have not ridden my bike to work for about 12 months. I recently moved, and the roads in the new area are terrible for bikers. It would be suicide.I hope you get well soon.--ScottDon't under estimate the wisdom of nature.--- EBbrewpunx wrote:fraggle <EBbrewpunxvegan chat i hear i'm aliveWed, 25 Jul 2007 12:48:30 -0700 (GMT-07:00)hi folkssorry..really hard for me to be online at the momentbut..heard people have been askingsoopop in for one second...thanx fer asking about me:)so..what happenedi was attacked by herds of rapid hedgehog terrorists....noummfriday morning was riding thru e-ville (emeryville)there's a street called shellmound...anyways...i was going down this road, and saw a couple vehicles in the parking lot of a hotel...didn't think much of it, so kept heading northbound on the road.of course, one just kept going and drove straight out westbound.i had nowhere to go, so hit the horn and tried to whip around him.(it was either that, er slam on the brakes and hit the side of his lincoln towncar)didn't workhe obviously was paying no attention, and he hit my leg and the rear of my bike doing about 30knocking me into oncoming trafficwhere, lucky me...i hit a car going southboundi flipped up onto his hoodand..yeahso..spent my friday in the ER at Kaiserfun fun fun i'll be okjust very banged uplots of brusingtorn and pulled muscles in my legsbike is in pretty sad shape...crushed my rear left shock absorber...f*cked up my forksand assorted other damageswheefraggle Learn about the power of raw foods at ---> http://www.rawfoods.com

Guest guest
fraggle, that is awful. I just biked past that spot today. That would have been the Woodfin Suites Hotel, is that right? Your story demonstrates my deepest fears on a bike: you can never, ever, ever, ever, ever, did-I-say-ever, ever, ever trust a motorist. Any one of us, who gets behind the wheel of a car is a motorist. I have a car, do drive it, as little as I can. When I drive it, I'm a motorist. So, I wanna know: did the motorist get cited? Was a police report filed? Will you be compensated by said motorist for your injuries, pain, useless bike, etc....? You'll be OK, but those muscle and ligament twists take time, so TAKE YOUR TIME, and take care of yourself. If you can get yourself to a hot tub, daily, I'd do it! The heat and water motion will aid the healing process. (There's a reason it feels good!) My empathy is with you. Guest guest
Now I understand why fraggle hit his horn and tried to "whip him around". fraggle rides a MOTORcycle, not a BIcycle. Why did I think he was on a bicycle? In any case, my sentiments are still the same. Motorists are not to be trusted! Especially those in Lincoln Town Tanks - I mean Cars! Guest guest
We used to have a motorbike many decades ago. You are very vulnerable in accidents, and there is so much traffic around now. Guest guest
I am not a motorist because I don't have a car and don't drive - BUT - not all motorists drive badly, just as all motorcyclists and cyclists don't drive badly. Guest guest
I always think about bikers when I am on the road, my brother rode a motorbike for years and I rode pillion for a while, and he had a nice collection of road rashes in his time! If a car hits another car at low speeds it usually aint so bad, if a car hits a bike it can be fatal for the rider. Guest guest
We were quite lucky when we had a bike. Came off several times. I did end up with a stiff neck for 30 years - until someone suggested I went to an osteopath!
