Tell our government to stop issuing polar bear trophy permits immediately! Hi Fraggle,Polar bears are in such trouble that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service has proposed listing them as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act. So why does this same agency allow American trophy hunters to kill Canadian polar bears and bring them home?Tell the Fish and Wildlife Service to stop issuing polar bear trophy permits immediately!Canadian polar bear populations -- like those in America -- are declining due to global warming and other threats. In fact, the World Conservation Union's Polar Bear Specialist Group predicts that polar bear populations could drop 30% in the next 35-50 years and that polar bears may disappear entirely from most of their range within 100 years.Hunting polar bears is already banned in the U.S. But half of the world's polar bears live in Canada, where hunting is legal. And due to a huge loophole in the Marine Mammal Protection Act, American trophy hunters can travel to Canada, kill a polar bear, and bring back polar bear trophies. We may not be able to stop Canada from allowing hunting, but we can stop the U.S. from allowing Americans to import polar bear trophies. Please act today and urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stop issuing polar bear trophy permits immediately! Guest guest
Thanks, Fraggle! I signed. I know someone (he married a relative of my stepfather's) who works for a company in Nebraska that sells hunting equipment. The company also organizes hunting trips to Canada. Americans pay at least $10,000 for the chance to shoot bears. Unbelievable. Guest guest
They shoot polar bears????? That is just sick....... Why on earth would anyone want to shoot a polar bear? As if those bears don't have enough problems with all the global warming issues going on. I thought polar bears were endangered, or getting close.--ScottDon't under estimate the wisdom of nature. If man made it, don't eat it.Raw Vegan--- denise_h22 wrote:"Tracy H." <denise_h22 Subject: Re: Fw: Stop Polar Bear Trophy Hunting!Mon, 27 Aug 2007 09:48:52 -0700 (PDT) Thanks, Fraggle! Guest guest
I don't understand why anyone would want to shoot any animal. But I get what you're saying. After meeting this guy who works for a hunting store, I went on the store's corporate Web site. In the "About" section they have their executives posing with large dead animals they supposedly killed. (Because you're not a man till you've killed innocent beings, right?) It's like the antithesis of a humane society site, where employees pose with their pets. TracyScott <scottm wrote: They shoot polar bears????? That is just sick....... Guest guest
It IS sick, but it seems like the perpetrators always have a "justification" for their inhumane actions. Last year my daughter was involved in the protest in DC at the Canadian Embassy against clubbing seals to death. She faced off against mounties, and thankfully she wasn't hurt. The year prior, a group of students from her college went to DC for an animal protection protest and were attacked as they got off the buses. Many were hurt and jailed. -Scott Subject: Re: Fw: Stop Polar Bear Trophy Hunting!Mon, 27 Aug 2007 17:48:56 -0700 They shoot polar bears????? That is just sick.......
