Hi, new member, sorry to barge in, but after looking at a few messages

didn't know where to enter so decided to just go the topic route. I am

currently taking a veganistic approach to my eating habits and wanted

to see what I might be able to learn here. my last eating approach

was " eat right 4 your type " based on ones blood type. which unfortunate

for my type steered me into eating more meat than I probably should have

(?)..and before I followed er4yt I was more of a vegan, and am

currently exporing more in this direction... Another recent approach

I've been exploring is the elimination of nightshades, which seem to be

a source of inflammation for me.. hard to pinpoint though. Well I used

nightshades in the past few days and have the " pain in the neck

back " (?). Does anyone have any nightshade before and after testomonials?

I didn't realize that so many were nightshades. My mom had to go to

specialists for arthritis and polymyitis (not sure of the spelling),

and she was forbidden to eat tomatoes and potatoes. I think it was to

keep her arthritis from progressing, but it could've been the other

one! She said she noticed a difference. :)

Hi Ron and welcome, I think there is nothing wrong in listening to what your body is telling you..........a lot of people have problems after consuming certain things ( too much dairy etc ). By nightshades are you refering to potatoes? I dont think that I have ever heard of anyone having adverse results from cooked potatoes...maybe green uncooked ones in abundance, but not cooked?

Thanks, perplexing issue, I am currently guilty of abandoning all

dietic logic as I oft do. But just to know these things influence my

eating habits.

yes potatoes are a nightshade and it is either new info or supressed

or irrelevant? and yes different bodies probably yield different

effect if this is something, power of suggestion sometimes is

happening to, or placebo effect. I am speaking objecyively, I think

although i like to become subject to trial of escape thru diet, lol

just noticed this angst to er4yt (and me?), ok, so what do you know? on blood types, I've never heard any explanation on why we have different blood types until I came across er4yt. Seeing as this scheme says that one blood type has to eat meat, I

think it is a silly idea.

Well say it is true, for sake of argument, Those who are blood

type " A " are more suitable to a vegan diet and thus more successful

at it but the rub would be that all blood types evolved from

type " O " , which is our ancestor hunter and gatherers (meat eaters).

So the book (er4yt) says " O " s need their meat but the paradox is " A " s

who were once " O " s evolved to not need meat by simply not eating it.

My feeling is that this whole 'system' was invented and the book written solely to make money. It has so many flaws that it it cannot be taken seriously.

i think it's a pretty safe bet that blood type diets are

baloney:

http://skepdic.com/bloodtypediet.html

i also think it's pretty funny when folks talk about our

" ancestors " and picture some kind of strong, noble savage

hunting and gathering about the rich land, like it was some kind of

garden of eden (the fabricator of the blood type diet says our

ancestors' diet was " rich in fat and protein " ; the weston

price folks say the same thing). according to one current theory,

until we got " smart " , proto-mankind was the fat and protein

for the real hunters like bears, the big cats, and so forth:

http://www.amazon.com/Man-Hunted-Primates-Predators-Evolution/dp/0813339367

in other words, we were prey, not predators.

this is certainly an unpleasant approach to our evolution, and a

fun one to bring up at parties when folks try to argue that we are

" historically carnivorous " .

" no, we're historically just carne. "

( " carne " is spanish for " meat " )

heh.

There are a lot of " diets " out there that just aren't safe. People

want to believe there's an " easy " fix...there isn't. Atkins is

extremely dangerous. Life's about choices, and I think it's great

that you're looking at the vegan choice.

Howdy ron

it just doesn't seem possible for blood types to affect diet in any shape or fashion

i've read eat right for your blood type..the man doesn't even site any studies or trials...

there are enough scientific holes to drive an aircraft carrier through

and, from the research i've read, A was the first blood type...

cheers

I never thought about the universe, it made me feel small

Never thought about the problems of this planet at all

Global warming, radio-active sites

Imperialistic wrongs and animal rights! No!

Why think of all the bad things when life is so good?

Why help with an 'am' when there's always a 'could'?

Let the whales worry about the poisons in the sea

Outside of California, it's foreign policy

I don't want changes, I have no reactions

Your dilemmas are my distractions

I never looked around, never second-guessed

Then I read some Howard Zinn now I'm always depressed

And now I can't sleep from years of apathy

All because I read a little Noam Chomsky

I'm eating vegetation, 'cause of Fast Food Nation

I'm wearing uncomfortable shoes 'cause of globalization

I'm watching Michael Moore expose the awful truth

I'm listening to Public Enemy and Reagan Youth

I see no world peace 'cause of zealous armed forces

I eat no breath-mints 'cause they're from de-hoofed horses

Hello Everyone,Please participate in the survey I have created in our Group Database. This is quite a perplexing issue for me that I feel has relevence and should not be carelessly dismissed as non-sense. Thanks for your replys pro and con.

Did it. :) I barely have heard of the eat right/type diet, so pardon

if my ignorance shows. You mentioned previously that " type O " is the

meat eater? My kid is " O pos " and she never really liked meat either,

and is now vegan.

yet.. Any blood type " O " 's out there? EVERYONE PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN

DATABASE SURVEY. AB, you are so rare, a simple A and B coupling. If

er4yt is somewhat credible fraggle may need some more protein to

speed up his healing??

protein is the most over rated "basic" in the western diet

Protein is in EVERYTHING to one degree or another
