Guest guest
I don’t post as often as I should, but I thought it was important to let you know some positive things. First, somewhere here on this list is a nice person who came up with a “beans” crockpot recipe that made me rediscover my crockpot, which had been tucked away for YEARS. Lord, I wish I remembered his or her name, but I wanted to let you all know how important this list is to me and I read it on a regular basis. I am one of the rare Vegans with a lifetime weight problem, given that when I was very young, my father (no mother around) would take me to eat with him at night before he went on graveyard mechanic duty at Los Angeles Airport; he would go into diners and say, “I’ll have a steak, potatoes and bread, and give the kid the same.” By 6 years old I weighed 100 pounds. I don’t blame him for anything; I’m just saying that since I did not become a Vegan until later in life, I have to fight the lifetime weight battle constantly. For this as well as animal cruelty awareness, the list is invaluable. By the way, I have lost 44 pounds since January. I hesitate to bring up a sore subject; but thanks for controlling “Ron”. My blood pressure was skyrocketing. Cynthia
Guest guest
Hi Cynthia It's so nice of you to let us know :-) Thank you. I know quite a few vegans who could be thinner than they are, and I could certainly lose a couple of stone!! Oh well........ I think all our blood pressures are restored to normal. Guest guest
We had an email from Ron, which I copy below. I thought I would send it to the group, in case anyone was missing him! Jo FROM: ron.zzxx DATE: Mon, 17 Sep 2007 17:38:11 -0000 SUBJECT: A Goodbye from Ron Well I made some progress here finding out most "successful"vegans are blood type A. Otherwise it's basically the same old same old rank and file narrow minded clicks here as any other mob, I mean group. There are probably exceptions in your group but they have to play their parts or may end up like me, free ...aah. It is true, this is and I am not a vegan, only entertaining true vegans here and no alternative theories other than "everyone is basically the same and everyone should be vegan" seems to be the rule. Cynthia I never thought about the universe, it made me feel small Never thought about the problems of this planet at all Global warming, radio-active sites Imperialistic wrongs and animal rights! No! Why think of all the bad things when life is so good? Why help with an 'am' when there's always a 'could'? Let the whales worry about the poisons in the sea Outside of California, it's foreign policy I don't want changes, I have no reactions Your dilemmas are my distractions I never looked around, never second-guessed Then I read some Howard Zinn now I'm always depressed And now I can't sleep from years of apathy All because I read a little Noam Chomsky I'm eating vegetation, 'cause of Fast Food Nation I'm wearing uncomfortable shoes 'cause of globalization I'm watching Michael Moore expose the awful truth I'm listening to Public Enemy and Reagan Youth I see no world peace 'cause of zealous armed forces I eat no breath-mints 'cause they're from de-hoofed horses
