Stovetop " Baked Beans "

1 tablespoon margarine

1 1/4 cups chopped onion

3/4 cup chopped green bell pepper

2 garlic cloves -- minced

1 cup reduced-calorie ketchup

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons barbecue smoke seasoning (such as Hickory

Liquid Smoke)

2 teaspoons prepared mustard

1 (16-ounce) can red beans -- drained

1 (15.8-ounce) can Great Northern beans -- drained

 

Melt margarine in a medium sauce-pan over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell

pepper, and garlic; sauté 4 minutes. Stir in ketchup and remaining

ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 15 minutes, stirring

occasionally.

 

Serving Size: 1/2 cup
