When hot, add the onion, tempeh, and soy sauce, and saute them until the onion is tender and lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, except the buns, and mix well. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring often. Divide the hot mixture equally among the buns and serve at once.
