Guest guest
Hello folks. I am hoping that somebody here will be kind enough to forward this on to the vegan-network list. I tried to send it last night, but it seems that Jo has also been put on moderation. In response, I received an e-mail from John calling me a prick! He then cited the Bible, so I suspect his true motives might be more to do with religion than anything else (looks like witch-hunting does still happen). Guest guest
Hi Peter! I can hardly beleive that you've been banned. You seem to me to be a very tollerant and fair person, hardly worthy of that. It also seems that you aren't the only one to get the boot! SAS has been banned too apparently, or so says her boyfriend. I don't understand why he keeps banning people, or insisting that he checks messages before they are displayed. I truly hope that he finds the harmony that he seeks on his list and in his life. I don't agree with his aim to create a utopic image of veganism in order to entice 'new' vegans. This is the real world, and the vegan community consists of a diverse range of people. If anyone bases their decision on going vegan just because via the internet they know of wonderfully perfect vegans who never faulter, then they won't last anyway. It goes much deeper than that (for most people, I would assume anyway). My lifestyle is compassionately vegan, but there are many other issues that concern me in this world too, and many other things to hold my interest. I have tried to forward your goodbye message, although I think that John also checks my e-mails before they are displayed too. I replied to one of your messages the other day (the one about childhood spirituality, and also 'trees'), but it never appeared. It crossed my mind that it didn't appear, because it wasn't allowed to, even though it contained nothing worth editing off. Perhaps it wasn't VEGAN enough! Perhaps it just didn't get through. Who knows. peace and compassion anastasia
Guest guest
Hi Anastasia > I can hardly beleive that you've been banned. I was a little surprised myself! > SAS has been banned too > apparently, or so says her boyfriend. That surprises me in that I've never seen Sas say anything untoward - but I don't think there's much that John could do now to surprise me - I think he's probably letting his problems at home get on top of him, and is lashing out at anybody and everybody. I hope his situation gets better soon, and that he'll realise what he's been doing. Do you know Sas's e-mail address? She'd be a great addition to this list, and I'd like to invite her. Does anyone know if she is on Vegan UK? I hate losing touch with friendly people! > I don't agree with his aim to create a utopic image of veganism in > order to entice 'new' vegans. It's good that there's people like you (and some others that I met briefly on vegan-network) around - it's e-mails like the one you sent that are truly supportive - thanks - you've cheered me up :-) > My lifestyle is compassionately vegan, but there are many other > issues that concern me in this world too, and many other things to > hold my interest. That was the point I was trying to make on vegan-network - what classifies as " vegan " topics? To me, " vegan " is part of a much wider outlook. > I have tried to forward your goodbye message, although I think that > John also checks my e-mails before they are displayed too. Thank you for trying. Jo (me mum!) also tried to send a goodbye message to the list which simply said she did not want to be a member of a group where the moderator aimed profanities at her family, and invited people to keep in touch with her - in response she got another abusive e-mail from John! > I replied to one of your messages the other day (the one about > childhood spirituality, and also 'trees'), but it never appeared. It > crossed my mind that it didn't appear, because it wasn't allowed to, > even though it contained nothing worth editing off. Perhaps it wasn't > VEGAN enough! Perhaps it just didn't get through. Who knows. Well, please post it here! I'd love to carry on that conversation - or any others that were going on :-) BB Peter
Guest guest
I have posted a message to vegan-network regarding Peter's banning. I did not forward Peter's message itself as I thought it more appropriate to suggest that he should be permitted to post it himself. We'll see. (I copied the message to Hayley. She created the list but due to other commitments she handed over moderation to Lucy initially I think and, fairly recently, the mantle finally fell on John.) Guest guest
Hello vegan-chat.Its nice to be on a group that is not oversensitive and in the habit of banning people for trivial reasons .Vegans should support each other[which is why I boycotted vegan-Network in support of Lesley] I may not bother to mail on there even if Lesley gets back on completely.I don't like the way others have since been treated .How many others have been banned that we don't know mabout ? they could feel really isolated and unhappy .Did the moderator ever consider the effects of his actions? - " Paul Philbrow " <pp Saturday, July 07, 2001 12:58 PM Re: Re: Fw: Goodbye to Vegan-Network list > I have posted a message to vegan-network regarding Peter's > banning. I have had another email from John. He obviously feels quite justified in his actions (I don't know why), and said he had not been abusive, and I must have led too sheltered a life! I asked him to ponder on the effects of his comments. Jo
