Rawfoodists

I am just wondering whether any members of the list are rawfoodists or maybe combine the rawfood way of eating into their vegan diets? I'm in the process of becoming a rawfoodist - it feels like the right thing to do. It is healthy and simplistic and I enjoy it very much. I haven't heard anyone mention it on here, so maybe I'm the only one???

I've just purchased a book called *Living in the Raw*. Its by an American author. A lot of the recipes have an ingredient called Bragg Liquid Aminos. Not sure if I have asked this question on the list before, but I was wondering if anyone knows if this is sold in the UK or what our equivalent is. Thanks.

I have seen it in London - at the Country Life health food shop - so it

can probably be found elsewhere too.

Do make sure you have a *reliable* source of B12 in your diet - see

<http://www.vegansociety.com/html/info/b12sheet.htm>

for the most up to date scientific data on this crucial subject.

All good wishes,

In this book I have " How it all Vegan, " they say you can use Braggs or

Soy Sauce... not sure if that's what we're talking about here. That's a

Canadian book, anyway.

Tell us more about the raw foods way of munching?

I like my warm food too much to do that, but a nutritionist I went to see is a rawfood person, and he looks really healthy.

Sounds like a supplement - amino acids - but are they all vegan? Just a thought?

hi Jane,

I'm in the process of trying to go more raw myself. Is that book by

Patricia Bragg,by any chance? As for the Liquid Aminos,it's pretty

much a soy sauce-type thing.I have a bottle here,not sure if it's

available on your side of the fence though.

Hey Chris

That's great about trying to be a raw foodist as well! I'm not 100%. Some

days I'm 50% and others I'm 80%. My next aim is for two 100% days a week!

Have you heard of Karen Knowler who runs FRESH? She's lovely. She has

written a book which I've just ordered which helps people with the

transition. I tried the raw food diet last year (after becoming hooked with

the website www.rawfood.com ). I bought the books by David Wolfe. I was a

vegetarian last year and I found it harder to adopt and gave up. This year

as a vegan I had increased the amount of fruit and salads and raw vegetables

in my diet anyway and I've given up alcohol. So now I'm trying again and

really going for it this time and I've just joined FRESH too!

Thanks for the information on Braggs. The author of the book I have is

called Rose Lee Calabro. Its an American book called *Living in the Raw*.

There are some great recipes in the book but seeing as so many involve

Braggs I thought I had better investigate! I'm not sure if it is used in

recipes over here. I think FRESH opt for the more *natural* approach.

Its hard but just try 50% days or even less if its that hard. Any amount of

fresh produce in your diet is better than nothing. On hot days eating a lot

of salads and fruit is very easy anyway. Fresh juices are great too.

Its so healthy and will give you lots of energy.

They are really worth reading. Perhaps someone can buy you the books as a

present. They are so informative and helpful.
