Do you have a fridge and cooking, so that you can make sandwiches and meals? It's probably going to be cheaper than the student cafe, and that always helps with the loans. Are there many veggie or vegan students are your place? BTW, please check you're getting B12 from somewhere - it's the one thing that vegans need in the shape of fortified foods or supplements. > charlotte > > > To send an email to - > >
Guest guest
I take a multi vitamin every day w/ B12 (and lots of other stuff, too.) I have a fridge and a microwave... so I can make some food, but not a lot. I can't just eat regular bread, tho, can I? doesn't it have like, eggs or milk in it...? anyway, there isn't any other vegetarians but me. well, maybe a few but I don't know them. it's a small college like I said! I'll be in the vast minority. like being a 49-ers fan in missouri, which I am! lol! talk to you soon! charlotte
Guest guest
sorry...was busy apparantly tearing the insides of my computer apart apparantly and missed this original post in the States, many " mainstream " breads have whey, or some sort of non-vegan stabilizer/conditioner.. most places do carry a local artisan style bread, i'm sure you must have something like that in missouri!.. *crosses fingers* to eat cheaply, well, buy a big ol back of rice, that will last you for a bit!! get a variety of toppings(soy, braggs liquid aminos, frozen veggies) that you can mix in so you don't get bored quickly i use to steal fruit from the local dorms..but, i'm bad, don't listen to the hoodlum fraggle In a message dated 12/31/01 2:43:05 AM Pacific Standard Time, charlotte98d writes: << I take a multi vitamin every day w/ B12 (and lots of other stuff, too.) Guest guest
I think its terrific that you've become a vegan Charlotte. Like you said, there aren't even any vegetarians in your college. Good for you! I hope we can all give you lots of encouragement and good ideas to keep you motivated! You really have made the perfect choice by becoming a vegan. I don't really know any vegans in *real life* either and that's why I enjoy being part of these communities in *cyber space*!!! I hope you enjoy being a vegan, I certainly have! I've now been a vegan for a year. Woohoo! Why was I ever a vegetarian for so long???! Janey x > I take a multi vitamin every day w/ B12 (and lots of other stuff, too.) Even the potentially animal additives, like lecithin, are generally from plant sources when in bread. I don't know how the labelling laws are in the US, though. I don't know much about microwave cooking ... apart from the food goes cold quickly, so I tend not to use it . Most of the vegan microwave meals are spicy indian things, which I guess you don't get in the US. > anyway, there isn't any other vegetarians but me. well, maybe a few > but I don't know them. it's a small college like I said!
