Hi everyone

I just wanted to say hi to all the new folk out there - we seem to have had an influx in the past week, and quite a few posting - so welcome to you all. I won't try to say hi to everyone individually, 'cos I might forget someone! :-(.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy it here :-)

Well, if you don't say hi to me, I might take my soccer ball and go home! ;-)

Hello Serene

Glad to see that you are vegan again. :)

Was your junk food vegetarian or just *regular* food?

Actually, I went pretty much omnivorous last year. I had always sworn that if I

started obsessing over wanting meat, I would just let myself have it. I used to

have an eating disorder, and I would rather die of a cholesterol overdose than

go back to that. And my partner, cute-poet-chick, is the Queen of Diner Food,

so after a couple of years living here, I started obsessing over meat, even

though I'm not a big fan of it. So I resolved last Jan. 1st to eat whatever I

wanted (which still turned out to be mostly vegetarian, but pretty high in fat

and dairy). Which was fine, but I got tired of feeling icky, and I lost the

desire for the animal foods, so this New Year I went vegan again. I had been a

vegetarian since 1983, sometimes vegan, and I think the meat played havoc with

my feelings of wellness (not to mention my ethical sense). And cute-poet-chick

says she wants to start eating the stuff I eat, so long as she's still allowed

(as though I can deny her permission) to eat her Big Macs when she wants them.

So all is well.

Some people say " speak softly and carry a big stick. " I say " speak

softly and threaten to pout. "
