Guest guest
I was in chat last week, and it was time for everyone to argue with me about veganism. Chortle. Believing unshakingly that they each personally are the most intelligent people on the planet (scrap that, in the universe) they assume that I am far less intelligent than them and ask for my IQ, qualifications, understanding about nutrition... Why can't it ever be explained in such simple terms as: It is wholey possible for me to survive without paying for people to murder animals, and even if (which it doesn't) this makes me ill, this is nothing in comparison to the doom of these animals. Even faced with such a simple concept, they are baffled; From the outset they had already reached a conclusion and were back pedaling from there, assuming that they are always right, rather than working from the ground up with a logical argument. Perhaps the most pathetic argument is as follows; '...We've always eaten meat therefore humans are MEANT to eat meat...' hahahahaha! Even though you all know why this fails, let me explain, I love tearing this one a new butthole: (sarcastic voice to avoid confusion) Slavery eh? Let's BRING IT BACK! Seems only fair, seeing as we used to do it. And all that living in caves stuff, where did that go? Let's revert to mindless barbarians! Yes, and while we're at it, remove women's rights, they never used to have them, what is happening? Also, queers? Round them up and burn their hides! (sarcasm ends) Maybe most insane is the fact that I didn't argue with them that day, I told them to visit Veganism.com where they would find all the answers to their questions. I don't know if any of yourselves have been there, but it's a list of topics / arguments that people raise to oppose veganism, and then university lecturers and professors then reply to the arguments with extreme detail and fairness. I think it's 98 topics in total, every aspect I have ever though of has been tackled. The people in the chat room told me that this site was... " Vegan propaganda " and refused to look at it. They already thought it was a propaganda site before looking at it. I tell ya, my hand was on the crowbar that day. EVEN if it were a site with photographs of animal slaughter (which it isn't) how can this be considered to be propaganda? It's just the truth, if they think that photos of animal slaughter are disturbing, maybe they should stop paying for it to happen. Propaganda suggests exagerration and twisting of truth. Truth is with us, why would we need to twist it?

Guest guest
Richard As you point out - their arguments are totally illogical. I will take a look at the website later, it sounds interesting. Jo > I was in chat last week, and it was time for everyone to argue > with me about veganism. Chortle. Guest guest
Hi Richard > Believing unshakingly that they > each personally are the most intelligent people on the planet (scrap > that, in the universe) Well of course they're all wrong - I'm the most intelligent person in the universe - don't they know anything. :-) BB Peter --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hi Muhammed > what are your views on anti abortionists using photos of aborted fetuses >(my view is that it is a valid exposure of the truth) I agree that it is valid exposure - but I don't feel that it is up to me to tell other people how to behave when they are in situations which I couldn't possibly understand. I tend to agree that abortions are on many ocassions gone into far too lightly, but would not presume to tell people whether they could or could not have an abortion. I feel it is one of those topics where it is impossible to make any generalisations, and each case needs to be viewed by those who are involved - with as much information available as possible. I also know from previous experience that the topic of abortion is a highly sensitive one (I've seen many a flame war erupt around this topic), so would ask that everyone please keep polite (as I'm sure you all will).
