I'm not. CIWF are a step in the right direction, but any organisation that thinks eating animals is OK so long as you're nice to them first is never going to be top of my priority list. It would cost me about £20 to go and that £20 can be put to better use! Good luck to those who go.

The great thing for CiWF, IMHO, is that their aims are achievable. I'm

not going to stop them eating animals in my lifetime. One century, yes,

but not my lifetime. But organisations like CiWF, whose leaders are

vegan, BTW, stand more chance of making a difference.

Also a good turn out will bring the issues to more people .

Some people will think and some will decide a bigger cage is not good

enough and they may stop eating animals altogether .

But if one has to choose SHAC etc would be my priority

I would llike to make something clear, in case I haven't already. I admire and respect CIWF and if they were the only animal group I would be there with bells on. In fact, if I lived in London I would go anyway because it is obvious to anyone that on the hook is preferable to on the hoof. Anyone who has ever had an Animals' Angels newsletter can be in no doubt of that!

Like everyone else, I have to choose. Unlike Ian, I do think that a massive reduction in the consumption of animals is achievable in the shorter term, more so now than ever, which is why I put my money and efforts into organisations such as Viva!, who help and encourage people to become veggie/vegan, rather than CIWF, wonderful though their work is. I know the people who work there are predominantly vegan. I just wish that their message had even a little of the veggie about it.

FWIW, their supporters newsletter does have an 'ethical consumer' column

which takes a reduction in meat and dairy eating (as well as switching

to organic suppliers, okay) for granted as an aim.
