I agree that raw foods is in a way the next step, but not everyone needs to take it. A fruitarian way of eating is the least cruel- you don't even have to kill the plant to eat. I've always felt much better and healthier when I eat like that, though I am not hard on myself when I don't do it to a tee. I think a fruitarian/raw way of eating can also be helpful for people fighting diseases. So if your not up for it when your healthy, it's something to consider if you don't feel well or are fighting something bigger.

I am very interested in moving closer to fruitarianism, but I'm cautious in

terms of nutrition. I have read in several credibly-authored books that

adequate nutrition is possible and tend to belive that it can be based on

those authors opinions/knowledge.

Are there any books of fruit nutrition out there?

But read the Vegan society info on B12, at their website. Particularly

if you don't feel well.

Hi Ian,

B12 is definitely something to watch for. You can get it from a raw diet that includes things like dulse and seaweeds. If you're healthy, the body will recycle it's b12 for about 20 years. It's produced in small amounts in your intestines. If you take anitbiotics, it will wipe out those bacteria that make it and you'll loose out on some of that for awhile, so you have to be careful. Some people do have problems with retention though and sometimes absorption. But a raw food diet can be done healthily, you just have to be aware of how you feel and what you're doing.

Hi Jon,

I tried to take a look at your website but it said unfortunately it's not available for about a week. I look forward to reading it!

With regards to fruit nutrition, there's a small primer on fruitarianism and health in general that you might want to check out. It's only $5 and you can order it at www.TanglewoodWellnessCenter.com. It's good information and the author will be working on a more detailed piece about fruitarianism. He's been raw for 10 years and runs a fasting and education center. I fasted there a year and a half ago and wanted to learn more so I worked there for awhile. It's hard to find good info on fruitarianism, but this primer "The Essentials" is good.
