Guest guest
Okay guys.. I'm back and I'm having a serious problem. When I first joined this group back in Januaray I was raw and devoted but I couldn't keep it up. Until I spoke to a member personally and she's been helping me a lot along the road. As a matter of fact, since I'm located in the Manhattan area I've even joined Urban Organic which I'm loving. But I had asked her the question of counting calories, she's been I think raw for the last year, and she doesn't count. And since I'm not only doing this for my health as in the like purifying myself, but also I want to lose this excess weight. And when I went to fitday, it's a calorie counter online, so you cna make sure you following a diet properly and also makes sure how many calories you burn and exercise and variety of other things. For anyone who doesn't know but your interested go to: www.fitday.com Well I ate until I was full and drank about 4 cups of water, and rising. Let me show you what I ate so you can get an idea: 2 pears; 2 tangerines; kiwi Salad: 2 teaspoons Nama Shoyu 1 tablespoon vinegar 3 tablespoons olive oil --soaked onions in it 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil 1-2 cups romaine lettuce 4 slices red onion 1 pear for breakfast; 2 tangerines for lunch; 1 pear for snack; salad for dinner; and kiwi for desert. Now when I counted my calories I only had about 977 calories, but I am full. Can anyone tell me if I'm still on the right track, or should I be eating more. Does anyone here follow the calorie counters? Monitor how much their eating, make sure their getting their nutrients or above the 1000 mark? I'm just a bit worried, can anyone let me know if it's viable or not?! Sincerely, VB
Guest guest
Hello, IMHO that is not enough food for the day. I don't count calories yet, but would like to start using " fitday " website. I had 5 oranges for breakfast and 3 hours later had 2 mangos and 2 banannas also. Dr. Doug Graham talks quite a bit about many rawfoodist not eating enough food and that contributes to them falling ill on the raw food diet. But this is just my perspective.. Guest guest
I track my food in fitday.com and I get above 2000 calories a day and am still starving (and I'm under 100lbs lol). for someone my size I should be having 1700 minimum, you are definately not getting enough calories. BUT then again, a lot of people on raw eat way less and have more energy so you don't necessarily need 2000 calories, maybe like 1500. One thing you didn't mention in your food plan were beans or nuts. 1/2 cup of almonds has around 400-500 calories for example and plenty of good fats and protein. Try making up a trailmix of various nuts, dried fruit, and seeds and you will increase your calories quite a bit. Now I know you said you are trying to loose weight, you don't mention your size or your daily activity level, so here is a site that tells you how many calories you need to maintain a specific weight. Try putting in your current and your goal weights and see what the caloric difference is so that you can get an idea of how many calories you should be consuming to reach your goal. -Abbey =)
Guest guest
Actually that day I didn't have nuts..because I was too lazy to get to fairway for their nut mix. But I eventually did make the trek and came out with two containers of it..they last about a week based on the way I eat them, which is any time I need to snack and that's about 3 times or more a day!! So nuts have been reintroduced in my diet becasue of that...their huge backs of mixed nuts, seeds, and raisins. And I put that oen day in my fitday..I went over the 1700 mark!! Easy!! Heh!
