Guest guest
Hi Abbey, I never heard Iceberg was terrible for you. Is it truly terrible for you or is it just not as " vitamin packed " as the darker lettuces? Just curious, Thanks in advance! If that is what you mean instead of having salad you might want to try just munching on lettuce, it could be the oils or vinegar causing this. Iceberg lettuce is really terrible for you though so munch on dark green lettuce like green leaf lettuce or romaine, they are better for you than iceberg. Plus fresh spinach is also very good and any other dark greens like kale.
Guest guest
Hey Nikki, That's pretty much along the lines that I have thought. But since Iceberg is mostly water....I always thought that at the least it would help with my water intake. As long as you don't add tons of fat laden dressing....it's not a bad option compared to most others when your out of your home environment, esp. when your out in a non raw friendly restaurant. Thanks for answering! Blessings, Suzanne In a message dated 3/14/2004 8:25:43 PM Eastern Standard Time, karmacharmer writes: I've always heard it's a nutritional zero. Guest guest
It is basically just water...it's got almost no nutritional value at all. Also if it is not grown yourself it is considered carcinogenic because of the amount of pesticides that need to be the soil to grow it. Someone I know, his wife just died of cancer in December and when she was diagnosed one of the unsafe foods her doctor told her was lettuce because it is so carcinogenic it can increase cancer risk. I don't know about organic because even organic foods have pesticides (sulfur is one of them) so I figure it is just best to eat other lettuces. If you like juicy lettuce romaine is a good one. -Abbey =) > >Hi Abbey, > > I never heard Iceberg was terrible for you.
