I do. I'm only about 25% raw, but I do find I have higher energy levels.

Hi Grace,

Yes...and that is the main reason I " had " to go raw. The thing

with " autoimmune " conditions, is that the immune system is

overactive. By going raw you give the immune system a chance to

stablize. As you may or may not be aware, when we eat mostly cooked

foods and especially heavily processed ones the, the body reacts in a

state known as " digestive leukocytosis " ....this happens because the

pancreas is now being stressed to produce the enzymes lacking from

the meal...this in turn effects the immune system and an excess of

white bloods is then being produced...It's very important to realize

that autoimmune conditions are not isolated to one organ or gland.

The problem exsists within the immune system, which effects the whole

body. Therefore if one continues to eat a mostly cooked food diet the

condition will only get worse, and symptoms of other

known " autoimmune " conditions will appear....ie. my own condition

progressed from thyroiditis to ulcerative colitis....

I would also highly recommend getting kelp and avocados into your

diet....these will provide the body with the nutrients it needs to

produce the hormones....You should also look at the health of your

liver, as thyroid conditions are secondary to liver

problems....perhaps gallstones is an issue????

> Donna, thank you so much for your post. Are you taking any meds? If

so, what are you taking? You can e-mail privately if you wish to

discuss this further.

As for the avocados and Kelp. I do include both in my diet. Actually

more of Dulse than Kelp, but I do have Kelp also. How do you use the

kelp? I'm not real fond of it's taste, but maybe I'm not using it

right. I'd appreciate the help.

Thank you again for your encouragement. I've lost some weight, but I

seem to be stuck right now. It's so frustrating for me, cause I was

never this heavy before. Though now I'm thinking that the Hashimoto

may have kept me from gaining weight earlier in my life and now that

I've been diagnosed it's in the opposite stage. What do you think?

Hope to talk to you again,

Grace

Hi Kim,

I haven't had my blood levels tested so I really don't know...I don't

have a weight problem though...or atleast as long as I keep up my

exercise routine and don't overeat on the dehydrated crackers or

halvah! lol ;)

FYI Avocados are highly recommended for losing weight as they contain

the enzyme lipase for breaking down fat and replacing bad fat with

good. ('cause we do need fat...good fat that is!)

I have been " raw " on and off for 2 years...but now I have committed

myself to 100% raw for good! ;) I have also starting taking maca, a

root from Peru that is very beneficial to the endocrine system and

acts as an adaptogen tuning the body's needs. It has the ability to

increase low blood pressure and decrease high blood pressure. Which

is the controlling mechanism in maintaining a healthy body

temperature...so I do have hope that I may regain a healthy thyroid

once again...

Hi Grace,

No I DO NOT take any meds...I refuse to after my close call a few

years back when DH had to rush me to the emergency due to a severe

allergic reaction! Scarry...won't touch meds...nope not for me!

You can eat as many avocados as you can stand, they are very helpful

at losing weight (as I stated in my previous post). One of my

favorite " transitional " meals is mashed avocado with diced tomato

wrap in a sprouted grain tortilla. YUM! I take kelp in capsule form,

because I don't really like the taste myself. ;) I believe kelp is

higher in minerals especially iodine, which makes it a better choice

for thyroid function. You may want to add maca to your diet. (see my

previous post). If you would like to discuss your diet and exercise

routine further feel free to email me directly...(I don't read every

email from this group and just occassionally check to see what

everyone is chatting about...) Oh, I believe you can get maca from

David Wolfe's site www.rawfood.com I met him this past weekend at a

healthshow and was very impressed with his knowledge...
