Guest guest
What does everyone use as a salad dressing? I won't touch the store brands because they are filled with too much sugar ect. Also, is UDOs oil something that can be utilized with the raw food lifestyle. Udos is a combination of good omega fats.
Guest guest
Hello! I'm a newbie on this list and just starting to incorporate RAW into our diet. Personally, we make our own and will use virgin coconut oil to replace olive oil =) ~Charity On Mon, 22 Mar 2004 15:50:22 -0000 " Lili " <ladyschaumburg writes: > What does everyone use as a salad dressing? Guest guest
Hi Charity, I'm not familiar with coconut oil, but I was doing some reading which says that the essential fatty acids (EFAs) omega 3 (alpha-linolenic) and omega 6 (linoleic) are essential to life, but cannot be created by the body and must be obtained through diet. I know these oils are usually found in fish(are they in coconut oil), but I was wondering if they could be obtained from other sources and/or if the UDOs choice oil was acceptable. I found the link below and if I understand correctly, the UDOs oil may be acceptable...but I'll do some more reading to make sure. :)Lili http://www.fatsthatheal.com/FAQ.htm#2_1
Guest guest
Thanks for your response Lili! Here's a GREAT site that answers a lot of questions about coconut oil: http://tropicaltraditions.com/faq.htm: This grade of coconut oil can be applied directly to the skin for conditioning. It is great in the hair for eliminating dandruff. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. For those looking to lose weight naturally, switching to Virgin Coconut Oil can burn off unwanted pounds. Virgin Coconut Oil is also great for digestive disorders such as Crohn's disease, IBS, and Colits. It is a powerful agent in killing intestinal parasites. Thyroid sufferers are finding that Virgin Coconut oil boosts the metabolism and raises body temperatures. And there is exciting research showing that the MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) in coconut oil act to kill Candida Albicans! These MCTs are also responsible for revving up metabolism and giving energy, which holds promise for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers, as well as others who need to boost their energy. It is also great as a carrier for massage oils, and is highly valued as an ingredient in natural soaps and skin care products. Virgin Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, a proven antiviral and antibacterial agent. It is currently being used in treating AIDS. Monolaurin is a monoglyceride of lauric acid. Lauric acid is also found in human mother's milk. Dr. Mary Enig suggests the average adult include about 3.5 Tbsp. of coconut oil per day in their diet. ~Charity On Wed, 24 Mar 2004 01:07:27 -0000 " Lili " <ladyschaumburg writes: > Hi Charity, I'm not familiar with coconut oil, but I was doing some > reading which says that the essential fatty acids (EFAs) omega 3 > (alpha-linolenic) and omega 6 (linoleic) are essential to life, but > > cannot be created by the body and must be obtained through diet.
