First: 2 things wrong. - It can be abrasive to the enamel if you brush with it. -It is sodium bicarbonate and if swallowed would add concentated sodium to the body and may raise blood pressure. However, if you just rinse and don't swallow, the sodium will raise th pH in the mouth and cut down cavities bigtime because it's not Sugar that rots teeth but the acid environment that sugar creates and its the ACID that decays teeth. So the bi carb rinse will neutralize the acid. Just don't brush with it or swallow it. If you're really serious about good dental hygene invest in a titanium toothbrush and just use fresh water for brushing then a quick thorough baking soda rinse and spit. And of course my holistic dentist would add, " floss lots " . rusty - " Tone " <tone102 <rawfood > Friday, April 30, 2004 3:42 PM Re: [Raw Food] Detoxing(Mary Ellen) > Mare, I have seen a lot of reference to using baking soda as a tooth cleaner. My Mother never had toothpaste in the house and it was always baking soda and it seemed like I was always at the dentist. Maybe it was the bone meal she had me chew daily..ya know the one that contained lead..LOL > What about a natural toothpaste like Tom's of Maine or something? Or is that the same junk? I bought it and my said had said " blech " . well he said something other then that but you get the picture.

Guest guest
Hi Rusty, I use to clean my teeth, tongue and stomach with toothbrush and water. I use dental floss, too. Guest guest
hi all, thanks so much to everyone who offered advice. A few further points of discussion...... I live on tank water and my daughter has never had asprin, anti- biotics. She does not drink any thing but water and juice (juice a lot less) The flouride issue for me is hazy. The research I have read shows that even amongst dental associations there is a great debate. For example the Canadian dental association is against floruide in the water supply. Sodium floruide (as opposed to naturally occuring calcium flouride) is a by-product of the aluminium industry. Alcoa has been one of the biggest lobby groups for mass flouridation. So I do have trouble believing that this is the answer. Surely young babies outside of western countries have had beautiful teeth before flouride. I have gone over my child's diet and I believe it matchs all the requirements. So another theory is that my partner had severe morning sickness in the first trimester of pregnacy. I have been told that is when teeth are formed? Any ideas. I am still at a loss over the teeth. But I am feeling a little better that I am doing all I can. (which is all when can hope to do) I guess being vegan (especially a vegan child) is breaking new ground so I am a little unsure of if what I am doing is right. (I know it is morally anyway) blessings on you all, Adam Support Care2 Email: 1,400 whales may be killed this year.
