Guest guest
I started smoking for a couple of months, but I've quit pretty easily, probably because it was only a couple months. I'm still craving them a little though. Guest guest
Rich, Hon, the best thing you can do for yourself is to don't even bother with them again. I started smoking at the young age of 12 and trust me with that exception I was quite the little girl. It is so easy for people that do not smoke to tell another to just stop. If I could dump these things I would be so much better off healthwise and moneywise. They were 50 cents a pack when I first started..lol My father was a heavy 32 year 4 pack a day camel smoker and boasts how he quit. Of course his last cigarette was in the hospital bathroom prior to his first triple by-pass. My son smokes and nags at me. Logic? lol I will hopefully quit before it has the chance to quit me. Have a wonderful evening hugs, Tone - Rich Sachs rawfood Friday, May 07, 2004 5:12 PM Re: [Raw Food] Tone - smoking I started smoking for a couple of months, but I've quit pretty easily, probably because it was only a couple months. Guest guest
My Mom is 59. For years she said smoking didn't effect her. Last fall she was diagnosed with cancer where her stomach and esophagus meet. She was told that it wasn't from smoking, but that because of smoking her recovery would be slower. She did quit and after surgery was told she was cancer free. About a month ago she started to get sick again. Either the cancer has returned in full force or it was in her body all along. She has massive tumors all over her organs. She probably has six months to live. Her changes were too late. She is in constant pain and on narcotics which gunk up her system even more. My mom is one of the most gracious people I know. She has touched so many people on so many different levels. And now she is dying a horrible death. It is too late for her to make any changes to restore her health. Tone, do yourself a favor, quit smoking while you have the chance to restore your body. ~Wendy
Guest guest
Dear Wendy, I am so very sorry to hear of your Mother's illness. I will pray for her and for you. I lost my beautiful Mother at the age of 16. She did everything right but she did smoke. Not saying that her death at an early age of 45 was related to it though. It seems that there was toxic land where we lived and my best friend's Mom passed in 74, another friend's Mom in 75 a few houses over and then my Mother in 76. A triangle of friends who all lost their lives to cancer of different sorts. I've already been given damaging news on my health. One would think that it would be the magic pill so to speak to just quit after that but it is not sadly. I have a very full plate with so many things including an emotionally troubled teen so it is not easy. Sure, always easy for excuses but anything that will alleviate stress is always acceptable. Unfortunately, smoking is a deadly one that alleviates everything in time. I pray that God will give me the strength to get through all of this. Thankyou for your concern and God Bless Hon. Guest guest
Tone, I quit smoking nearly a year and a half ago after 32 years of 2 packs a day. It's so doable. Yes, we all have stuff going on in our lives...excuses to not quit are everyhwere. You have to want it more than anything. http://www.quitnet.com is the most amazing place, full of support and people going through all kinds of quits. Go there...quit. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. No new excuses under the sun. They've all been done before. If you want to improve the quality of your life, trust me, quit.
