Guest guest
Mary, yes, my baby is still nursing, on demand, that is every 2 to 4 hours, and also at night, I can tell I've never gotten 6 hours sleep straight since she is born. She started trying solid foods a month ago, when she started to be curious about what I was eating, and she had already doubled her birth weight. She gets some whole baby cereal (first rice, now oatmeal), apple, pineapple, home made puree's (potato, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower so far) but it's been only once a day, almost every day, for taste more than for a meal, she would get just a few spoons and then want some breastmilk to close the deal... (I would appreciate advice about her eating as well) I don't count the calories, I'm used to listen to my body... but lately it seems I'm hungry all the time!, so I do eat, small meals and snacks during the day. I start the day with a fruit, whey protein powder, rice or almond beverage, or fruit salad, later whole grain bread and cheese or tofu sandwich... then at about noon something more like a salad on a pita bread or tortilla wrap, and around 2 or 3 my imagination ends... Sometimes I eat canned tuna, I can't even remember the last time I ate chicken or turkey, but it was between the last couple of months, when I cook for my husband mostly, but the last few times I cooked poultry for him, I couldn't make myself eat any of it... it just doesn't feel right. I just ate a protein bar, but I had to stop almost all soy containing foods (mostly processed, like a bar or powder or beverages from the store) because of my baby, she didn't digest it very well, and also a multivitamin I was taken, but I repalced the vitamins with one product made from food and it is ok now. It seems that she is growing out of that problem, I've tried a couple of times since the problem, soy based protein powder fresh smoothies, and I didn't notice anything wrong in her, although not in a daily basis, as I used to. As you may see, I have been focusing on the protein, but I guess you are right, it must still not be enough... it's not always those 50 gr you talk about... I don't even know if I make the 2000 daily calories... what can I do? blessings... Deb
Guest guest
Deb, Keep experimenting! You may be getting enough protein but not enough fat.,..or the right kind of fat. Or, you may be getting too many starches or not enough liquid. Experiment until you find what works for you. Keep in mind, though, that you need at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep for your body to not be tired. When you can sleep 6 hours straight, the problem may go away. My son did not sleep for 4 hours at night until he was 6 months and it took till he was 9 months to sleep for 6 hours. Boy was I happy when he did! mary
Guest guest
Try and add more fats like nuts and avacado to your diet. The baby can eat avacado and even some tofu if she is 9 months or older. My son loved avacado, bananas, banana and mango mix, papaya, green beans and potatoe. Don't worry to much about the cereal it isn't as nutritious as the veggies and fruit. Guest guest
- mary rawfood Saturday, May 08, 2004 7:37 PM that you need at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep for your body to not be tired. >>. and again another fact that mary wants to state as 'law' and its not true either, each person is unique and alot depends upon their diet, if one is 100% or close to that raw they can easily function (body not tired) on 4-6 hours, as each of is unique so are our bodies and our bodies needs, what I may need to is not what the next person needs so there is no 'set' basis on what EVERY SINGLE PERSON needs, each one of our needs is different from the next... just my .02 tara
