Guest guest
Interesting, but I have been vegetarian, nearly vegan, for over 16 years-and have 4 extremely healthy children from this time period. Also, what of the societies that are 100% vegan? Fish is NOT essential, though you are correct that seaweed or similar is a great idea. Our society has some strange ideas on what's necessary-I try to emulate societies that have been very healthy when choosing foods and styles-makes more sense to me! Since you are of child-bearing years, I strongly recommend you either keep fish in your diet or make seaweed a regular part of your diet...for the sake of any future children you might have. Mary, Why do you say this? Just curious because I am young and would like to eventually have many children. Ariana
Guest guest
The human mind just can't tolerate a simple, raw plant food diet. The human animal has to make it complicated or it drives them nuts. As to the comment about seaweed, why go into the ocean for anything to eat as a land animal? Seaweed does not taste good to me, it tastes seawatery and fishy. Guest guest
I don't know what kind of seaweed you had, but I've had dulse and I enjoyed them. They are little salty and I put them in soaked paper towel, then cut them up in small pieces and mix them in salad, so you hardly noticed it. I understand they have good nutrition value. I prefer this over man-made supplements to boost my iron. I think there are two kinds of seaweeds, which one is dulse. I forget the other one is called. Guest guest
not liking seaweed is your own preference, but some types of seaweed alre also richer in nutrients and minerals compared to some land-based plants. http://www.clearspring.co.uk/ifood/issue4/3.htm Megan - As to the comment about seaweed, why go into the ocean for anything to eat as a land animal? Guest guest
It may be a cultural thing but that's just part of the reason why it's so painful mentally for a human to eat a raw vegan diet. As for bears, I'm sure there's physiological reasons why fish is an appropriate food for them. We should take our clues from gorillas. Guest guest
yeah well, gorillas also eat some insects like termites and ants. those aren't exactly purely vegan diet. Guest guest
Here we go again, the millionth time that's been brought up as to how we're not like a gorilla. So they eat a few termites and ants, 99% of there diet is leaves, etc. I am so tired of hearing how gorillas " eat some insects like termites and ants. " They're gorillas, for crying out loud, what do you expect? Do you see them hunting for animals for flesh eating purposes, no. We do, afer all, have incisor teeth. rusty - " Megan Milligan " <yasminduran <rawfood > Thursday, May 13, 2004 6:21 AM Re: [Raw Food] Re: fish for pregnancy? > yeah well, gorillas also eat some insects like termites and ants. those aren't exactly purely vegan diet. > > Megan > - > > As for bears, I'm sure there's physiological reasons why fish is an > appropriate food for them.
