Guest guest
When I'm vegan, I don't have a problem with calories. When I go live/raw, although my appetite is very diminished - a good thing, I'm sure - I end up not taking in many calories. How does everyone keep their calories up on a raw/live diet? One of the problems with a raw/live diet for me is where and how I live. I live in a hoophouse, the likes of which you can see at www.hoophouse.com, and I live in upstate New York. So, it gets very, very cold and we barely stay warm enough. So, a raw/live diet feels " cold " and seems to amplify how un-warm we are during that time of year. Mind you, we're selling this place and moving into a real structure soon, so the above won't be a problem any longer. However, I would still like to know how folks keep their calories up? and does a raw/live diet " satisfy " during those cold months? Thanks, Rose

Guest guest
I noticed you did not get really satisfactory answers to that question before. First, I'm a novice, but adding spicy herbs would seem one way to " fool " the senses, like cayenne. THe other thing is that you can warm food up to 105 degrees. THis is quite warm, but not so warm as to destroy enzymes. Other than that I would tell you how the founder of the Michigan Ann WIgmore institute does it but it's " off topic " . -- anne rawfood , " Rose Lieberman " <pyrite@c...> wrote: So, a raw/live diet feels " cold " and seems to amplify how un-warm we are during that time of year. Guest guest
How about ginger? When my husband and I go outside at night during winter time, our feet gets so cold that someone suggested ginger in our dinner. Not fully understanding it, but willing to try it. It worked. My husband's feet were cold and mine was still warm. So he tried it and his stayed warm. Weird but it worked !! But I don't know about calories. raw potato? Guest guest
I live in PA and the temperature is irrelevent. I stay raw if I want to stay raw, I don't if I don't want to. Whatever I have to feel, and I do mean whatever, is just part of the program. Like anyone else, I can easily find " reasons " to not stay raw. Eating raw plant food doesn't look like many calories compared to overeating on the SAD diet, but it's actually plenty.
