Welcome lurker. Why do many people lurk and not want to post? It

helps you and it helps me to post anything.

Rich

Hi Rich,

I too am guilty of lurking, not only on this site but on a fasting site as

well. I too have seen people pushed out of groups by group members who's lack

of tolerance for a particular subject got out of hand. Also, I have seen

people outrightly banned by moderators for not keeping " on topic " .

A faster, for example, ( from a fasting group to which I belong ), who made

references to God and the spiritual side of her fasting journey at nausium,

found herself disenfranchised from the Fasting group, as it was determined that

the group was a place for the support of those fasting, not a place of

worship. So be it. Sadly this too, happened in a public forum with many posts

on

either side of the issue .... openly ... " venting " their views.

I myself, found her God oriented posts a bit off putting and opted to delete

them without opening. No biggy.

Regarding this group, I am 47, a mother of three, retired now ( **thank you

hubby ) and have an intense passion for gardening; growing organic veggies,

fruits, and nuts for my family, friends, and neighbors. I am fascinated and

empowered by the many of the exchanges of those in this group who's education

and wisdom regarding " raw food " is well beyond my own. In short, I find the

posts RIVITING!! So many new thoughts.

Thank you to all of you.

After reading a post, for example, postulating the bennifits of Alkaline

Foods v/s Acid, yesterday, I found a chart online listing what foods are indeed

Alkalizing or Acid ( The WOlfie Clinic ). I am not reclusive by nature,

.... not shy exactly ...but here, my over all knowledge regarding " raw " is so

pitiful .. that I have, at this juncture of my journey, so very little to offer

anyone by way of Posting myself.

For the record then, ...Thats why I am a " lurker " Rich.

Regarding the Mary issue, ... I enjoyed reading her posts. I enjoy reading

everyone's posts. Yet, when it came to the salmon " yada yada " I was deeply

saddened by the posts attacking her in a public forum. Perhaps it might make

more sense in the future to " complain " or othewise inform the Moderator of

" topic infractions " then allow the Moderator to communicate via private Email to

the individual who has strayed off topic, ....with suggestions perhaps, as to

how he/she might better " fit " their posts to contribute to the groups needs.

I doubt it was any one's intent to " hurt Mary's feelings " or otherwise

attack her personally, yet, are we not all only this; .. " human " . Few are so

thick

skinned ( mature/ego-less ) that they would have opted to stay under fire by

simply adjusting their post subject matter .....after....having been

publically " attacked " .

ok ok .. obviously, I dont have answers, ... only postulations, hense the

reasoning behind being " a lurker " ... ( most of the time )

Peace, ...

Mandy

I don't mind reading any post on here to start off with. I mean I

start off reading them and if it's not something I'm interested in, I

just go to the next post. We're all raw food eaters, trying to

support one another to stay raw. Basically coming on here and

reading and posting fills my time better than eating non-raw would.

I understand what you're saying. I don't mind reading posts from people

with varying views either - I just made the OT suggestion to try to please

those who do mind.
