Hi everyone,

I am new to this board and also to this way of eating. I have a question

that is probably basic for most of you. How do you sprout stuff and once it

is sprouted do you eat the whole thing? I know you put them in some water

but for how long, do you change the water, does the temperature of the room

matter, etc? Are there things that shouldn't be sprouted? When people talk

about soaking nuts and seeds before you eat them, exactly what does that

mean?

Sorry to sound stupid but I guess when it comes to this subject I am.

Thanks,

Lisa

Lisa, you'll get lots of good suggestions but this is so easy it can get you

started today and you'll have edible product in 2 days.

Get some green lentils and if possible get organic.

Put 3 tablesoonsful in a 4 oz. glass of water, let soak overnight and then

drain the water and leave the glass on your counter with the drained lentils

in it. Cover with a porous clean cloth to keep the flies out. As soon as you

see the tails breaking out, they're edible.

Rise them once a day and when you start to eat from one dish start another.

If they taste good to you try garbanzos next and then there are dozens more

to try. But lentils are easy, tasty, quick and very inexpensive. You could

feed yourself for a month of 5 bucks worth of lentils.

Eat them raw as finger food or add to salads and gaspacho or miso soups. I

like miso with raw lentils and chives and juilenned fresh raw ginger tossed

in at serving.

If they don't spout in 3 days then they are dead [probably irradiated] so

throw out the supply and get fresh ones somewhere else.

Rusty,

I tried to sprout them before. Do you eat the whole thing? I was hard and

crunchy. Just curious.
