Guest guest
Don't worry about others posting. As long as your questions are being answered and you're happy with the group be content. There are over 1000 people in this group and if everyone posted you'd probably be complaining that it was too much mail or too hard to keep up. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to follow messages by 1000 people everyday. Concerning the members who have been argueing on the board the last few weeks they are all new members. This leads me to think that they are joining this club to start trouble or a troll using different ids to disrupt the group. My question is this, if the group monitors new members, how are these recently joined members getting their argumentive messages to the board and past the moderator anyway? --- In rawfood , BilletDoux003@a... wrote: > In a message dated 5/11/2004 6:17:50 AM Pacific Standard Time, > alopez@i... writes: > Welcome lurker. Guest guest
Dear Christy & others, I do believe we have or had members who were here to disrupt the group. I regularly reject posts that are obviously rude or attacking but I don't doubt that some posts go through that really should not. Each of the last two months saw over 700 posts. We have already had 60+ today. At this pace we will be over 1200 posts for the month of May. It's sometimes too much for me to scrutinize each and every post for content and attitude. I do see posts that I question but I tend to let them through because I believe they will interest or benefit some members even if they are not totally on topic. I certainly think the " raw fish " discussion got out of hand. I have no problem banning any member who makes inappropriate posts or is attacking to other members. I'm watching for that. I encourage any member to bring a disruptive post to my attention so that I can review it and take necessary action. We have several new members joining each day. Who thought we'd have over 1000 active members! It's great that we have this forum available to share our experiences and thoughts with each other. We obviously have dedicated members who have helped many people with their questions and struggles. Let's keep on sharing, learning, and helping. Today I was reading a book by Wayne Dyer and I cam across this passage: " Be a student. Stay open and willing to learn from everyone and anyone. Being a student means you have room for new input. When you are green you grow, when you are ripe you rot. By staying green you will avoid the curse of being an expert. When you know in your heart that every single person you encounter in your lifetime has something to teach you, you are able to utilize their offerings in a profound way. Guest guest
Hi List, I became vegetarian in the 70's, whilst still living in England. My children have been vegetarian from birth. My husband and I were called 'hippies' and I even had a visit from the health department to check on my kids because someone in the neighbourhood was concerned that my children were being abused, because of vegetarian lifestyle. We didn't even broadcast our lifestyle people just picked up on it. The funny thing was that I had people from just across the road writing me notes asking for information and recipes. Fast forward to the 80's. There was a huge scare right across Britain when it was discovered that cows had 'Mad cow' disease. This came right after the 'Salmonella in eggs' scare, where everyone stopped eating eggs, as there were children as old as 10 dying from salmonella poisoning and Chernobyl, where the government deemed it okay to eat Lambs that had a certain level of radiation contamination. The 'Mad Cow' outbreak was the last straw for most people and they decided to become vegetarian overnight. This was extremely hard for many as anything to do with not eating meat and two vegs was considered 'foreign'. So they turned to the Vegetarian Society for advice and recipes. To help these people along the Vegetarian Society developed a new sub-group, it was called Demi-veg. It allowed people to eat chicken and fish, whilst giving up red meat. This actually worked very well, within a year most people had become completely vegetarian. The Vegetarian society's membership was the highest ever. The newspapers reported, that over 75% of Brits. were now vegetarian, eating no animal products at all. What is also interesting is that many stopped smoking soon after and smoking was suddenly not tolerated at all in public places. The point I am trying to make is that the Vegetarian Society were very tolerant of people eating chicken and fish, whilst quietly guiding them to a full vegetarian diet. Many people are reported to be still following the vegetarian lifestyle and there is an abundance of Organic produce available there. I know that for the most part this is a very helpful and sympathetic group. Becoming a raw vegan is very hard, for some it is easy, but for many, me included, it is hard, and especially so, I think, for those us who live in the chilly north. I look to this group for support and encouragement and I would like to say a big thankyou to those dedicated members who do share their knowledge and show tolerance to all. Kindest Regards Molly > We have several new members joining each day. Who thought we'd have > over 1000 active members! Guest guest
I think if you are going to refuse to post someone's message to the group the least you can do is give them an explanation: I'm still waiting for mine. Guest guest
Jesse, Your posts have not been moderated since 7/23/2003. Your posts go straight to the group. 's group log shows me that the system automatically " bounced " two of your posts on 4/30 and 5/1. I did not reject them nor did I even see them. The system looks at your email address and compares it with a r's list. It thought you were not a r. I can see where it went wrong. It shouldn't have bounced you. I'll email you directly with more detail on this so it won't happen again. -Orionsdad rawfood , " studio53 " <studio53@s...> wrote: > I think if you are going to refuse to post someone's message to the group > the least you can do is give them an explanation: I'm still waiting for > mine. > > Jesse >
