Guest guest
I know the person who related this and she's sure. Further, it's more comforting to dismiss it as an urban legend. I prefer to think it's quite possible but not confirmed. Yet. We'll see if we can't find the newspaper article. Guest guest
Not at all. She offers no proof either. Nor does a Snopes citation for general stories address the factuality of any given individual story. Debunkery infects everywhere, doesn't it? Jeesh. They need to teach formal logic in grade school. As if that would help the primates. Guest guest
You know, I'm in my late twenties, and racist allusions to Chinese food and cats have been around since even I was a little kid. So no, it's not a matter of 'it's more comforting'- I can understand that you, not knowing me, would make that assumption, but I'm much more cynical and realistic than the average bear- it's just that this old bad joke has been around the block. Someone always 'knows someone'. The Stewarts <stews9 wrote: I know the person who related this and she's sure. Further, it's more comforting to dismiss it as an urban legend. Guest guest
Yep. That's what I figured. The whole " Chinese food restaurants serve cats " thing has, in variations, been around for several decades. When I was a little girl, an adult woman very seriously and solemnly told me that she never went to Chinese restaurants, because those people took food that diners didn't finish and served it to new diners. I've heard the whole cat thing many, many times over the course of my life. I actually hadn't heard it in a long time (years!), though, until the post from the other day. Guest guest
stewarts, if you can prove to me where i positively asserted a connection between your alleged account and disproof by the existence of a legend phenomenon, i'll retake logic. as i only provided general info of interest in the connection, it appears the remedial logic class enrollee may be you instead :-/ and those who disagree with you are primates? very telling indeed. see if they offer remedial netiquette too while you're at it. new listmembers signed up for better reading than personal snippings. back to topic please :-) p.s. feral, nice painting on the home page today. kindly tell us what it is and/or where you got it? , The Stewarts <stews9@c...> wrote: > Not at all. Guest guest
I believe it is from the John William Waterhouse gallery. I am not certain of the title though; glad you like it. I gather pretty pics from all over the www. ~ feral ~ The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd. ~ Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~> , " radcsusa " <radcsusa@n...> wrote: > p.s. feral, nice painting on the home page today. kindly tell us > what it is and/or where you got it? Guest guest
I hope that you get permission before using works under copyright! Not that the frontispiece of the group is, but it's something to consider. Feral <terebinthus wrote:I gather pretty pics from all over the www. ~ Search - Find what you’re looking for faster. Guest guest
What about my post indicated that I am not calm, or that I am " testy " ? Perhaps you should examine your own emotions before you make accusations. As I pointed out, the current frontispiece to the group is, if I am not mistaken, in the public domain. Therefore, displaying it is not a copyright violation. ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: , reptile grrl Of course I would, but this isn't the case with the pics I take and use to decorate the groups I host. Guest guest
I guess it was the use of the exclamation point at the end of your sentence : " I hope that you get permission before using works under copyright! " Didn't come off as very gracious or calm in tone. As I am the listowner and one of the moderators that strives to oversee that the tone of this list remains kindly and pleasant, I thought I would point that out. I don't know why you felt you had to make that point about the use of copyrited material to me about the pictures I use on this list , but it wasn't really a nice way to ask me if I am careful in that regard. If you have any further to say on this matter please take it up with me offlist. If you have any questions about our use of materials here, take that up with us (the moderators) offlist as well. ~ feral ~ Very early in the life of every youth there will be... the question of how far he ought to sell his soul for the sake of his life. ~ John Cowper Powys, 'The Meaning of Culture' ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , reptile grrl <reptilegoddess> wrote: > What about my post indicated that I am not calm, or that I am " testy " ? Guest guest
How does one go about getting tested for candida? >>Can a raw diet alone cure candida? Guest guest
I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert, but I do have two real life friends who went to a holistic Dr who is also an MD and blood was drawn and tested. The Dr is Dr Vorster who is really lauded here, but accepts no insurance hence I havent visited yet. Thats sort of why I am so curious as to whether raw will ultimately " right " everything, and I wont have to go see someone. take care Angela abarberi <abarberi wrote: How does one go about getting tested for candida?
