Guest guest
BOYCOTT AND PASS ON THE: Living Now Festival Summer 2004 July 29th- August 1st I'm passing and boycotting this event and I'm encouraging you to do the same. Why? They don't allow dogs, which is the most absurd thing I've heard in a while, considering who this group is and what they are trying to represent. Obviously, when they say, " Let us come together to rejoice in this sacred present moment and create a more beautiful and awakened future, " it's a future that doesn't include dogs. Who wants to participate in something like that? All the celestial bullsh## in the world is'nt going to cover this up: this is obviously all about the money. These guys are nothing more than slick promoters and if their policy is that they don't want my dog there, then they certainly don't want me there as well. So, the last thing they'll get is my support or money. Guest guest
-It is so sad to me when others make judgements about individuals without meeting them first. This will be my second year at this event and I look forward to the event all year . They are not about the money as you say. This event is a labor of love to them. Anyone who has taken the time to meet Albert, John, Turiya, and John would know this right away. The food offerend is very affordable and they are all truly caring individuals. My suggestion to you is to work as hard as they do putting this event together and have you own event where dogs are allowed. There is nothing sadder than the bigotry of humans against sharing the world with animals, unless it's the attempts to justify it with quasi-piety and pseudo-consciousness. You know, I can even understand why the venue doesn't want dogs and cats there--if the place is a sanctuary for a rich abundance of wildlife, as the name implies, then certainly they need to be protected from predatory domesticated animals. However, in a venue which routinely hosts large groups of humans, there are surely places far enough away from the wildlife to be able to bring companion animals; or else simply choose another venue. I'm sure accommodations could be made so that everyone would be happy. But no such issue was presented here, nor on the website for the event. Instead, the attitude seems to be coldly exclusionary (and I resent the event's labeling of rescued animals as " pets " ); the responses of the person representing the event have been attempts to sidestep the issue, with lectures on the nature of reality, purported survey results, and insinuations about bad animals and " owners " . The attitude is such a turn-off, as is talk of " judgements " and other irrelevancies. The issue is the animals, pure and simple. > They are not about > the money as you say. Sorry, such an endeavor is not of any appeal to me. My hard work is far more directly on behalf of non-humans, to stop the imprisonment, abuse, torture, and slaughter of the billions of animals which goes on daily. My suggestion to you is to work for the same goal, there are too few taking part in the overwhelming struggle. Zsuzsa
Guest guest
With all due respect, if you are so unhappy and offended by the fact that they don't/won't/can't allow dogs. Instead of complaining about it and saying how aweful they are why don't you organize an event yourself, then you can allow dogs, monkeys, zebras or whatever. You have no idea how much time went in to planning, how many sites were looked at. You don't know, so stop judging. Guest guest
Hi everybody, I haven't kept up with this issue much. but has anyone thought they might not be allowed to have dogs because of health codes from the city they are having it at? Just a thought, Kevin
Guest guest
Instead of complaining about my message, and instead of inventing accusations of " judging " (while it is the accusers who are engaging in judging me), and instead of defending exclusionary practices, why don't those who support those practices peel off their anthropocentric tunnel vision, and broaden their circle of compassion? Why shoot the messenger? As I've already mentioned, I'm not into organizing events, I'm into ending bigotry against, and abuse of, animals, wherever it occurs. It's about the animals. Guest guest
-Hi Zsuazsa, I sent my reply to the initial poster Jesses, not to you. I have seen your post regarding the welfair of animals and having nothing but respect for what you are involved in. I am simply wasn't happy with someone making harse judgements about people I have know and respect . I do understand that those same judgements are made about Animals also, but I wasn't addressing that issue at this time. Peace, Jude
